Route information
Beginning in the grounds of the Grade II-listed Nettleden Lodge, this duathlon kicks off with a 6k, partly off-road run through the tranquil countryside surrounding Berkhamstead. The route takes you down towards Berkhamstead Golf Club, through the woodland of the Frithsden Copse Nature Reserve, before it loops back towards the Lodge.
As you return to the house, the transition area is right at the front for a quick change before hopping on your bike for a 24k road cycle along quiet country lanes. The course takes participants along Nettleden Road, through the village Little Gaddesden and into Ringshall. Then, the route stretches past the magnificent Dockey Wood until cyclists reach the hill of Ivinghoe Beacon. P
Participants will turn towards Ivinghoe village and then onto Stocks Road, leading them past Pitstone Common and Stocks Golf Club. At Aldbury, the route cuts across Aldbury Common, bringing cyclists out onto New Road, which takes them back to Ringshall. From Ringshall, the route heads back to Nettleden Lodge to conclude the second phase of the race.
If you didn't appreciate the scenery enough the first time around, the second 6k run runs the same route, finishing back at the Lodge for a BBQ.
The purpose of this event is to raise money for Cancer Research UK, Herts Young Homeless and Harrison's Fund. All proceeds will go to the charities, with no costs deducted.
