Route information

Beginning on the Felling By-Pass, a short walk from the Event Village in Gateshead International Stadium, this chip-timed closed road half marathon will take you along the scenic River Tyne, past iconic landmarks such as the Gateshead Millennium Bridge, Sage Gateshead, BALTIC Centre For Contemporary Arts, Tyne Bridge and past the historic Swing Bridge.
The course will then turn back, giving you a chance to see these landmarks from a different perspective.
You will cross the finish line after running a lap of the Gateshead International Stadium track to the deafening cheers of your family and friends, a finish line that has previously seen 2 world record times run across it.
The course is fully-closed and professionally measured and marked, allowing you to concentrate on giving your best and enjoying the view along the route.

Parking
There will be event day parking at Bede Primary School. You can also park at the most convenient Park & Ride Metro station.
By Metro
All participants are heavily encouraged to travel by Metro to this event. There's a frequent service from Newcastle, Gateshead, South Tyneside, Sunderland, Newcastle Airport and North Tyneside to the stadium.
You can take the Metro Park & Ride to Gateshead Stadium Metro station from: Callerton Parkway, Regent Centre, Four Lane Ends, Northumberland Park, Heworth and Stadium of Light Metro Stations.
By Bus
You can get the bus to this event, with services running from Newcastle City Centre, Gateshead or Heworth Metro Stations then use the Metro to get to Gateshead Stadium Metro Station.
By Train
Newcastle Central Station (East Coast Line) is the closest train station to this event. You can get from Newcastle Central Station to Gateshead Stadium on the metro.
By Car
You can get from major roads in the area to Gateshead International Stadium easily, however routes will be affected by road closures for the event so please be sure to check before you travel.

Registration
The event village and registration will be at Gateshead International Stadium.
Please ensure you arrive in plenty of time in order to complete the registration process and warm up.
Race Pack
Race Packs must be collected on the day of the event, before the start of your race, from registration. Please be aware that you will not receive anything in the post.
Cut-off Times
There will be a cut off time of 3 hours for the half marathon due to road closures.
Age Restrictions
The half marathon is open to runners aged 17 and over. Runners for the 10k must be aged 15 or over. Entrants in the marathon distance must be 18 and older on event day.
Refreshments
There will be water stations at regular intervals around the course as well as at the finish where flapjacks and bananas will be waiting for finishers.
Headphones
It is not recommended that you wear headphones during the race so you stay alert to what is going on around you and hear the encouragement from marshals and spectators.
