Route information
We are excited to develop our Quayside 5k event to now include a 10k option, in partnership with Gateshead Harriers.
This course takes in the famous landmarks of the Newcastle Quayside passing the Swing Bridge and under High Level Bridge, Queen Elizabeth II Bridge, King Edward VII Bridge & Redheugh Bridge, before returning the same way.
This is a flat, fast course boasting real PB potential, whilst also being accessible for beginners!
The Quayside 5k is part of our Top Flight Races Series.

How to get there

Get full directionsPARKING/TRAVEL
The closest Metro Station and train station Newcastle Central Station and there are several large public car parks in Newcastle & Gateshead within a short walk of the event. There will be NO specific Event Parking.
We encourage runners to arrive by Metro or to use available public & private parking on both sides of Newcastle – Gateshead Quayside.
We recommend using Parkopedia.com to find a suitable parking spot, should you wish to arrive by car.
Please be aware of the road closures in place for the race route HERE, as some car parks will be blocked off by the race.
Should you be looking to arrive the day before, we recommend staying at the Copthorne hotel Newcastle, Travelodge Newcastle Quayside, INNSiDE by Melia Newcastle,
Premier Inn Newcastle Quayside and The Vermont Aparthotel which are all situated on the race route.

BAGGAGE
We will have a secure marquee/room/area where you can leave your baggage. We recommend you bring as little baggage as possible. Your baggage tag is attached to your race number, you simply tear it off and attach to your bag. To collect, show your number to our staff and they will help you find your baggage.
TOILETS
Portable toilets are available on Newcastle Quayside a short walk past Pitcher and Piano.
There are no event toilets on the route.
REFRESHMENTS
There will be a water stations on the course, at approx 5k. There will also be water available at the finish along with your post race goodies and medal.
RESULTS
Results will be available here immediately after the race.

FAQs
How old do I have to be to enter the Quayside 5k & 3k Junior Race?
Entrants must be 11 and older to enter the 5k event. The 3k has age categories of u13/u15/u17 only).
What time does the Quayside 5k & 3k Junior Race start?
The Junior 3k starts at 6:30pm, the 5k A race starts at 7pm, and the B race at 7:30pm.
Is the Quayside 5k & 3k Junior Race a hilly course?
Not at all, the race is fast and flat making it the perfect opportunity to shoot for a personal best.
