Chamonix sits at the foot of Mont Blanc, providing a stunning backdrop to our Running & Yoga weekend. As featured in Runners World, Times Top 30 Active Holiday Ideas, Telegraph’s Best Running Holidays and the Guardian this is a perfect adventure for any yogi runner looking to discover mountain trails! This weekend caters for those who are new to alpine running or new to yoga, and those with more experience.
The trails wind through pine woods, up to balcony paths, with breath taking views over Mont Blanc. We pick some stunning routes of 13-15km each day which show the valley at its very best. Along the way, we teach techniques to help increase your confidence over this terrain. Our experienced guides bring the wild to life, with information about the local history, flora, fauna and geography. Each day features a checkpoint with local and seasonal produce. One day includes our famous cheese and wine tasting!
Following each run, you will be guided through a yoga class, suitable for all levels including beginners. Aimed to support your running, the restorative sessions will release any muscle tension accumulated during the morning on the hills, as well as working on flexibility and strength.
This activity break focusses on both running, and relaxation. Each run lasts around 3 hours and each yoga session around 50 minutes. This leaves you plenty of time to relax and explore Chamonix or take a trip up to the Aiguille du Midi. You will be staying in a 4* spa hotel with access to a pool, sauna and jacuzzi so you can unwind and enjoy the views.
On the Friday evening the group meets for dinner with the Run the Wild Team. It’s a great weekend to make new friends and enjoy alpine trail running at its best. As with all Run the Wild holidays, all you have to do is book your flights, turn up and run – we will take care of the rest!

A deposit of £200 is taken at the time of sign-up with the balance taken 3 months before the trip is due to start. Total trip price is £625.

2 nights in a 4 star spa Hotel Les Aiglons located in the centre of Chamonix. Accommodation includes breakfast each morning and an evening meal at one of Chamonix's highly rated restaurants. The rooms will be on a twin sharing basis, unless you have requested a single room (which if available, there is a supplement).
You'll have access to the spa which has a heated outdoor pool, hot tub, steam room and sauna, the hotel also has an outdoor space to relax in and free WiFi as well as a beautiful atrium bar area.
Transport
Transport to/from Chamonix via Geneva can be booked with one of the many minibus operators, such as Chamexpress, Mountain Drop-Offs, Alpybus or Swiss Tours. The journey takes around 1.25hrs and needs to be booked before travelling.

Ability
This holiday is aimed at yogi runners looking for an introduction to running trails in the Alps. You'll be taught some key principles of yoga to help you run more efficiently and safely. The trails run can be adjusted to suit the ability of the group so there's no pressure to be a prolific trail runner. Experienced and qualified Lead Runners will guide the runs and offer extra support along the way.
After each of the runs in the Alps, runners will be guided through yoga classes, suitable for all levels including beginners. Aimed to support your running, the restorative sessions will release any muscle tension accumulated during the day in the hills, as well as working on flexibility and strength.
Clothes
- Lightweight waterproof jacket (preferably Goretex / Event – must have a hood and sleeves)
- Lightweight waterproof trousers or leggings
- Wicking top and shorts/leggings
- Sun hat / cap
- Warm hat and gloves
- Additional warm layer / thermal top (for when we stop or it gets cold)
- Socks (eg: Injinji)
- Trail running shoes (sufficient tread)
Accessories
- Fully Charged Mobile Phone
- Lightweight, comfortable running pack
- Water Bottles / Bladder with minimum of 1 litre capacity in total
- Sunglasses
- Snacks to sustain you for the route
- Emergency cash
- Waterproof bags / dry bags to keep stuff dry
- Personal first aid kit (eg: blister packs, sunscreen, asthma inhaler etc)
Poles
Although not mandatory, it is highly recommended that you bring trail running poles for this trip, especially if you are taking part in the TMB or similarly longer trips. They have been proven to help!
