Join this fun-filled cycling event, the perfect way to spend a May weekend. With a choice of distances ranging from 3 miles to 60 miles and start locations at Harwich and Clacton-on-Sea, you'll be able to take in some of the area's amazing scenery along quiet roads. Come along for the post-race refreshments and entertainment as part of the Tendring Festival.

Route information
This popular cycling event based in Essex offers a choice of route options in the picturesque district of Tendring. Choose from a 60 mile or 20 mile circular route and enjoy quiet roads, coastal scenery and some incredible views. A 6 mile family route will also be available.
All routes start from Dovercourt in Harwich. Route highlights include St Osyth's historic Martello Tower, the villages of Great Bentley and Great Oakley, and Clacton with its iconic pier.
Taking place alongside the annual Skatejam and run in partnership with Tendring District Council, you’ll be able to unwind with refreshments and entertainment back at the Finish - and also top the ride off with a free swim at Dovercourt swimming pool. (Towels not provided!)

By Car
To get to Dovercourt (Harwich), take the A12 to Colchester, then the A120. Just before Harwich, turn right onto B1352 to Dovercourt and then the B1414. You can then follow signs to the parking area next to Dovercourt Swimming Pool. Ample free parking is available on-site during the day.
By Public Transport
Dovercourt Station is approx 1.5 miles from the race start. Please check with the operator regarding carriage of bikes.
Event day logistics
08:30 - 10:00 20 mile and 60 mile routes
10:00 - 10:30 6 mile family route
Age Requirements
- 60 mile: 14 years or older
- 20 mile: 12 years or older
- 6 mile: 9 years or older
Cyclists 15 years old or under must be accompanied by an adult over 18.
ALL riders aged 17 years or under MUST have a signed parental consent form. The form is emailed to each rider and posted in rider packs with the Ride Guide. Please email the completed form to enquiries@bike-events.co.uk or bring this to the check-in on the day. 16 and 17 year olds may cycle unaccompanied, but those under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Kit
Participants can use road, hybrid or mountain bikes, which are suitable for both routes.
ALL riders MUST wear a hard-shell helmet. A selection of helmets will be available for purchase on the day.

How old do I have to be to take part in the Tour de Tendring?
60 mile route entrants must be 14 or older and those entering for the 20 mile route should be 12 or older.
What bike should I use for the Tour de Tendring?
Road, hybrid and mountain bikes are suitable for both routes.
Where does the Tour de Tendring start and finish?
The 60 mile route starts from either Dovercourt in Harwich or Clacton-on-Sea, whilst the 20 mile route starts from Harwich. The 3 mile short route is based entirely in Clacton.
