Lovely route, good roads. Registering and getting a race number is a bit complicated. Would be good to have a few more entries but the weather may have put some people off.

Absolutely loved it and it certainly was challenging! The views are incredible and the fantastic roads to ride on. Would have definitely liked more food stops though! I’d happily pay a higher ticket price to do the same but have more feed stations. Overall a great day with very friendly staff and riders. We’ll be back again :)

I have never cycled on the island or in winter before and am wondering about how to properly dress. Assuming the route is along the coast for some/all of the 65 miles, I guess we may get some serious wind chill compounded by rain? Is it normally very windy and wet along the coast? My current plan is dress as follows: thin summer gloves plus fingers gloves on top, neck-protector, under-helmet cap. Winter "bib knickers". Summer shoulder-less vest for the skin-layer, full-sleeved spring/autumn jersey on top, and shortsleeved waterproof on top, but also maybe a "wind jacket" on top ..? too much or not enough ..? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey Shahin. Thanks for your question and I hope you are keeping well. Loving your forward thinking with your layering system for the event. I think you have it spot on, it's always better to be over-prepared than get caught out. It can be pretty rainy on the coast but it is usually short lived. I would say it might make more sense to wear a base layer with a long sleeved autumn jersey then a long sleeved waterproof jacket which can be worn if you are cold or if it's raining. You can always pop this in your back pocket if you're too hot/it's not raining I would also definitely wear overshoes over your cycling shoes. If it's raining then it'll be miserable to have wet and cold feet for the whole ride. Best of luck!

ok thanks Steph, that helps. I guess there is the potential for biting wind chill too, what with the 65mile route being mostly along the coastline ..right .. ?
