This is a no-gimmicks event, a proper cross country race - no sergeant majors screaming or hurling mud at you, this is a back to basics: the mud is already here, the fences are your hurdles, the ditches and fallen trees are your challenge. The course is a good old fashioned cross country challenge set in 250 acres of a private country estate in North Yorkshire; it winds its way through woodland and open countryside, over boggy terrain and muddy tracks.
Middlesbrough 10k Running Events
This 10k is set on the fantastic trails surrounding Penshaw Monument. This race has everything you would want in a trail race - great views set on lovely trails. We describe the route as undulating, some that have actually taken part in the race, go as far to say that this course is brutal for a 10k! This race also has great facilities for the whole family. Herrington Park has a children's play area, woodland walks and fun trail walks. Penshaw was the first race in the Urban Trails series of races.
Goathland Trail Marathon circular routes starting from Goathland Village Hall for:- Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k.
Circular routes for Marathon/Half Marathon/10k
All routes will be signed but runners most carry the below attached route map and a race route description.
From Low Dalby Visitor Centre, the first 2 miles of this 10k are a steady uphill climb on a private tarmac road. First runners to the summit get the King and Queen of the Hill prize! The surface continues as a compacted stone trail (uneven!), the track turns right and begins a fast and furious descent down Sand Dale and Heck Dale. At the bottom, a right turn takes you along Dalby Beck and down the trail back to Low Dalby and the finish. Date tbc.
In remembrance of our soldiers in the 1st & 2nd World Wars and subsequent wars & conflicts. A beautiful run on Tarmac & hard trails, in association with Pickering Running Club. This years Dalby Dash again represents great value - all entry fees go to organising the race and raising money for our charities - Help for Heroes and Pickering Rotarians (who donate their share to North Yorkshire charities).
The race starts outside the beautiful Visitor's Centre and you run up a firm Tarmac road (Housedale) to the top of the only hill in the race (a steady slope!) - First man and woman to the top gets a special prize. Then along the top of the rigg on gravel trails and a long and speedy decent down to the beck. Then a 'DASH' to the finish line back at Low Dalby.
The 6ish mile course is one lap on good tracks and paths, but unsuitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Very scenic - passing all of Gibside Estate's landmarks. The 20th running of this race.
The Hardmoors 26.2 Trail Marathon Series comprises 6 beautiful and challenging trail marathons, half-marathons and 10ks based in various different locations around the North York Moors.
