Very disappointed. Runners mainly there for the Half so when they finished, it was very lonely, not for me at all! I am not a fan of two lap runs and went the wrong way at one point in second lap as no runners in front of me and no marshall on the junction. It was very windy especially on the bridge (you go over that 4 times in the marathon) Support from bystanders was fantastic but no comraderie or atmosphere amongst the runners. It was described as predominantly flat which was not quite accurate!!

Enjoyed the route along the seaside and the old town. Paper cups should be used instead of plastic bottles and pouches. One sport drink provided wasn't enough, perhaps smaller quantities scattered along the course.Distance and toilets signs along the course would be helpful.A special thank you to two marshals, Anna and Mark for helping sorting out my cramps.

The course description said that it was predominately flat. Well I thought that it was very hilly. It also said that there were coastal paths but only one stretch. Entertainment hardly anything. No pace makers for marathon runners, no starting waves so that I ended up starting off too fast. The crowds at the finish were amazing! However I didn't enjoy Southampton marathon so I won't be doing this one again. Sorry.

This was my first marathon and it was brilliant. Very well organised. The marshals were fantastic, really provided the support and encouragement to help you cross that finish line. Couldn’t have done it without them. 100% recommend.

Course was narrow in a number of places and difficult to see traffic cones in the first couple of miles due to the number of runners. Not enough Marshalls during marathon 2nd lap: my partner went wrong way at one corner. More hilly than expected, a route profile on the website would help. Map provided in the pack was not clear for runners not familiar with Southampton.

Really enjoyed the race. I managed to break 3 hours for the marathon which was really good. The support and the stewarding was excellent. My only negative feedback would be that the mile markers weren’t in the right places and the 10k timing mat is closer to 9k. Still thoroughly enjoyed the event though

The water bottles given this year were a game changer, absolutely brilliant being able to easily carry them and sip rather than drink quickly and chuck away. The course this year was also much better than last year.

More toilets on the course would be good in the future.
