Route information
Featuring wild and rugged terrain, this route takes runners up and down steep climbs and descents that test your mind as well as your body. Each day is unique with its own individual challenges and famous landmarks to add to the experience.
The course follows the South West Coast path, which is marked by the Acorn sign.
You will be issued with course maps and the emphasis is on self-navigation. In most cases, it's as easy as keeping the sea on your right and the land on your left.

North of Constantine Bay (near Padstow) to Perranporth: 42.1k
Day Two
Perranporth to St Ives Bay Holiday Park: 41k
Day Three
St Ives Bay Holiday Park to Lands End: 44.3k
There will be checkpoints approximately every 10k along the course.
There is also on-site catering for £18 a day (£6 - Breakfast £12 - 2 course evening meal - prices as of 2019). This will run from Thursday evening to Sunday evening.

There will be free parking at the event site.
Participants will be transported to the start each day from Event HQ, and back to Event HQ at the end of each day.

Event day logistics
Exact timings are to be confirmed closer to the event date. All briefing, start times, and bus times for each group will be found in the Information Pack closer to the event date.
Start Groups
Participants will be set off in start groups each day based on their expected pace. Day 1 will have 2 start groups, and days 2 & 3 will have 3 groups.
Group 1 is for walkers and slower joggers ONLY.
Group 2 is for runners and faster runners. No walkers in group 2.
Group 3 on day 2 and 3 is for faster runners.
Your start group will be decided by the organisers who will publish this information in the Information Pack before the event.
Kit list
Mandatory Kit List: (to be carried on your person or in your rucksack)
  • Useful numbers, checkpoint timings, and lost procedure
  • Whistle
  • Compass (make sure your compass is attached to you or your kit)
  • Waterproof top
  • Long trousers or tights
  • Gloves (waterproofed in a plastic freezer bag)
  • Hat (waterproofed in a plastic freezer bag)
  • A chocolate bar or similar
  • Small torch with spare batteries
  • Minimum of 400ml spare water
  • Issued 'bib number'
  • A lightweight piece of warm clothing (waterproofed)
  • A fully charged working mobile phone (waterproofed)
  • A notepad and pencil with your name and your mobile number written on it (waterproofed)

Is there parking at the Atlantic Coast Challenge?
Yes there will be free parking at Event HQ where participants can leave their cars for the weekend. They can then use the race transport to get to and from start and finish points.
Can I enter the Atlantic Coast Challenge as part of a team?
Yes absolutely, to enter as a team please email - [email protected] -. There will be an additional charge to account for extra admin, medals & t-shirts. Teams may use the start and finish transportation but if you wish to meet at a checkpoint and swap over you will be responsible for getting yourself to and from the checkpoints. Teams must also at registration make sure that the HQ has everyone's mobile number and emergency details.
Is accommodation included in the price of the ticket for the Atlantic Coast Challenge?
No accommodation is not included and must be booked separately. It can be booked at the following website - - or entrants can find their own.
