The flattest half marathon in Scotland and potentially in the UK, with a single start and finish point, the Barry Buddon FAST Half Marathon is a single lap course ran completely on traffic free roads, so runners can focus on their running as well as enjoy some of the stunning coastal scenery that parts of the route provide. We envisage event will sell out as it sold out in 2024, so please do not delay your entry.

Start line was a bit of a crush but route and event staff/volunteers were amazing!

The start and finish was a bit of a bottleneck and not many supporters along the route which was also quite boring. The results took a while to appear on the website compared to other races.

Didn't like the route and felt the start and finish line was messy. Sorry but wouldn't run again.

Delay at start probably due to lack of toilets - course was a bit dull and I didn’t like the 2 parts where you had to go up the road and turn and run back down again.

Race was brilliant and so we're  the staff and volunteers .I would only say the start line was really congested and could only suggest a bigger call up for pining up in time groups so people wouldn't have to squeeze past those already lined up and get caught on the spikey bush that lined the road. 

I enjoyed it - maybe some improvement to the starting area could be used. But at the end of the day - it was a blast. Thanks for organising .

Poor communication from organisers from sign up to race day. Probably the worst comms from any organiser i’ve experienced after completing 100’s of events.

For the price I would’ve expected at least a race t-shirt not just a medal. The start line was a mess with people filtering in the wrong direction along a narrow track to try to get inline to start. Chip timers on shoes! I thought they were a thing of the past. Actually receiving an official time at the end took many hours to receive any notification. No race photos, I’m just not sure this is an event I’d do again or would recommend unless all of these issues were addressed, I see no value for the entry fee.

Bit too crowded at start and end. Not very well sign posted when first arriving on site. Otherwise good.

The start was chaotic, narrow, not enough room for everyone so start delayed.  No clue why the first/last 100m have to be on gravel when the entire rest of the course is tarmac.  Water stations had the bins about 3m after the water - far too close for faster runners (the advertising is “Fast HM”).  The finishers have to walk back on the course while others are still racing - this is mad.  But the route was great, picturesque and not somewhere we usually see. With a few tweaks, it could be excellent. 

Great first effort.  Wasn’t overly fond of the start or finish area. Shame it couldn’t have started and finished near the camp where previous races started and there is extra room to park

Start a bit shambolic. Should consider going “plastic free”. Bring your own cup. Disappointed by the amount of litter-gel packets- left on the road. But that’s down to fellow runners :-(

I'm not a fan of having to come back on yourself, but I appreciate there weren't many options. The start was very congested and you maybe need more toilets! And coming back to the finish was very narrow with people walking out the same way you were trying to run in. Very flat and fast course as promised. Good amount of water stops and well marshalled. Would definitely do it again.

The start line was very congested and without any organisation regards to starting positions. I felt this made the first few hundred meters of the race quite dangerous as there was a mix of fast and slow runners on a relatively narrow section.

Perfect and well organised event with great support from everyone. I'll be back.

Better guidance on parking would be helpful. Only one way to and from finish line so as I was running to finish there were a lot of people walking on the path. Could be significantly better quality of snacks (sponsorships would be good) at the end. Having some gels at water stations would be helpful. Course should take in as much scenery as possible - would it be possible to run to / along the beach?

The race start was chaotic and very disorganised. There were a high volume of spectators crowded and creating risk in the final 200 meters

Really nice course and plenty of stewards to keep us going. Start line was a little tricky to get to due to the volume of people but got there nonetheless.

really good 1st half marathon! course itself was super flat however the parts with loose sharp rocks weren't great but luckily that was only a small % of the course. the regular water stations were good and was nice to get sweets at the end!

Had an absolutely great day, route was fantastic. And everyone was buzzing. Highly recommend 

My wife picked up an injury prior to the event. She could not get a deferral to next year (standard on most events we have entered) and could not get a refund without a Dr's Letter (£65 for letter, for £35 refund) as injuries in training are common, we will not be supporting any future events with a no deferral policy. I shall be warning the rest of the Blairgowrie running club regarding this policy. 

Lovely route, no spectators on route of you like a bit more atmosphere. Start and finish could do with being moved as it's too tight. Despite the comms there is ample parking nearby, would not park in Monifieth that was hectic.

 Brilliant flat course where you could concentrate on fast times. To improve the event further I think it would be beneficial to have more signs directing towards event from surrounding area.

Very smooth. Great organisation. Brilliant venue / course. 

It was very well organised event, perfect supposed by all the volunteers and locals 👏 

Suggest toilets at the start just for runners, others elsewhere for everyone? Great course, clearly signed all the way

Really nice route. But just no atmosphere 

The course was flat as promised, but a few back and forth loops with long straight stretches made it mentally quite tricky.  Organisation I've given a lower mark due to not receiving any pre race email, the toilets were problematic as there were far too few for the number of People at the start leading to very long queues, and the start was very overcrowded, folk at the back couldn't hear a word and were rammed in.Having said all that, those are teething problems with a new event, there's always problems like this, and the people made up for it with enthusiasm and cheering.  I had a good time overall, just wanted to flag some of the elements I found a bit of a pain.  

Bit of a congested start, with crowds trying to line up in time - might need a bit of reorganising next time 

Positives - decent course, relatively easy parking nearby, lots of friendly runners.  Negatives - absolute shambles at the start trying to get everyone fitted in, hardly any Marshalls on route & no live results yet at 7pm!  Hopefully can be improved on for future events here. 

Good route well organised, plenty of water and toilet stops. 

It was a good flat course, with some great views.

I enjoyed it. Toilets were lacking and meant I had to queue for 25 minutes and couldn’t stretch before the race started

The only thing I would say is that if there was a briefing at the start, I couldn’t hear it from where I was in the ‘queue’. Other than that, great event, my first half marathon, thoroughly enjoyed it!

- it could have been clearer how far it was for parking from the start - the start of the race was a bit shambolic and late, so everyone was cold- no marshalls for long periods in the middle of the route- results not out for at least four hours after the finish- marshalls driving fast on the road; everyone’s got headphones on, so quite dangerous - start/finish area was very small and cramped

Fast course with friendly volunteers. Start/Finish area didn't seem to be in the best possible location. Very narrow for access and awkward for spectators moving in and out while runners were still finishing. If this was to be re-located it has the potential to be a very good event.

So flat, good spread of water stations. Not a lot of toilets on route but I'll definitely be doing that again! 

Very congested at start and finish line. Also not much communication to the runners.

Nice route around the buddon, easy flat route 

Race starred late and was a very cramped start as no space to get passed to line up for the start. Apart from that, the course was marked out very clearly and was an enjoyable race.

Really good course! Could do with some more enthusiastic Marshall’s out at some of the points when you’re struggling as they were all very silent. Late start time but overall well organised and good atmosphere at the end with the scouts helping! 

Given large event - could have got more sponsorship to make bigger event. 

Start and end point of the course is crammed. Spectators all over the finish area! Course is great apart from that. Info about parking and locating the start was substandard. Also would prefer numbers and timing chips to be posted out prior to event. 

Excellent day! Well organised and the atmosphere was great. Can’t wait for next year! Also got a PB! 😀

Great course and the staff and spectators were brilliant. Perhaps too much of a “bottle neck” start ? But great fun .

Parking on the street could be problematic if you’re a bit later, just means a longer walk to the start though. So no real problem 

Got my PB of 1 hr 33 mins which is 6 mins off my previous as there were no hils. Well organised and enjoyed the packet of sweets at the end.

Really well organised, great flat course…. No wind which was a great relief…..on a windy day a very different challenge!!!! Overall an excellent event
