Race Across Bannau Brycheiniog, the Brecon Beacons National Park!
Embrace the great outdoors in this trail Ultra, and feel the earth beneath your feet as you get back in touch with nature on this amazing challenge. You will follow the Beacons Way trail and tackle some tough climbs and technical trails. This is a spectacular race spanning across the Brecon Beacons!
On this self-navigational course, there will be plenty of ascents and descents throughout, so expect to feel the burn as your legs churn to the finish. Expect plenty of checkpoints along the way, which will give you the opportunity to pause, refuel and keep on grinding.
The course begins in Llangynidr, a village in the heart of the Brecon Beacons National Park, and starts by heading past the beautiful waters of the Talybont Reservoir. You will then tackle Craig y Fan Ddu, Craig Cwareli, Fan y Big and Pen y Fan, experiencing the stunning views as you reach their summits.
The route then crosses the A470 and heads towards the scenic woodlands of the Fforest Fawr. Participants will be treated to the sights of the Ogof Ffynnon Ddu Nature Reserve as they pass the Ogof Ffynnon Ddu cave and into the Penwyllt hamlet. The course then pushes on towards Craig-y-Nos Country Park and Castle, where it will turn northwards, following the River Tawe.
This brings you to the Black Mountain range, where you'll find the natural lake of Llyn y Fan Fawr and Picws Du, the second-highest peak of the Carmarthen Fans. Passing through the tiny community of Llanddeusant, the route will then begin to descend from the Black Mountains, before looping through the village of Bethlehem and finishing at Llangadog RFC.
