Blenheim Palace Triathlon routes

The swim is an open water (and freshwater) swim in the lake. The bike course consists of a gently rolling route circling the estate, while the run is a scenic offering around the Queen's Pool.

The Sprint Team Relay is a great introduction to triathlon. Teams of 3 will have one member complete each element of the event, eg one member swims, one bikes, and one runs. The 'baton' or timing chip is passed between teammates in transition, then all members of the team will meet and cross the finish line together.

Sprint: 750m Swim, 19.8km Bike, 5.4km Run

Sprint Team Relay: 750m Swim, 19.8km Bike, 5.4km Run

Super Sprint: 500m Swim, 13.3km Bike, 2.9km Run

Raceday Logistics

It is strongly advised that you arrive at Blenheim Palace at 90 minutes before your race time. It will take time to park, register, collect your race pack, and prepare for the event.

Participants need to be at the Swim Assembly point 20 minutes before your race wave is due to take place.

Chip Collection Times:

Saturday 07:45 - 14:00
Sunday 07:00 - 14:00

Start times will be available on the website 2 weeks before the event.

*During the swim portion of the triathlon it is advised that you position the chip under your wetsuit.

*For the cycling portion bike numbers must be correctly attached to the bike and helmet being used by the cyclist.

Then participants will rack their bike in the row relevant to their race waves, placing their bike, helmet, and equipment at any marked position on your designated row. There will NOT be individually numbered racks for participants so please remember where you have racked your bike.

In the TEAM RELAY, the timing chip acts like a baton relay so only one person from the team needs to have the timing chip at any one point.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will there be toilets at the Belnheim Palace Triathlon?
Yes, there will be toilet facilities in the car park, at the event village, near the swim start area.

You will be charged £20 if you lose your chip while it is in your possession.
Can I fundraise for a charity?
If you would like to take part and fundraise for a charity please email [email protected] and use the subject line '2021 CHARITY PLACES'. Please include the details of the charity you wish to fundraise for.
I am an elite triathlete, can I enter this event?
There is an elite field reserved for the best triathletes in the world, To find out more about how to enter as an elite, please contact British Triathlon.
What is the difference between the general and premium sprint?
The premium sprint allows you to compete in the first wave of the day.
I have a disability can I still participate?
We are an all-inclusive event and do our utmost to accommodate participants with disabilities.  Please contact our Customer Service Team, with a description of your disability. We will assess this and establish if it is possible to compete and what we require to make this feasible.
When should I receive my race pack?
Your race pack will be delivered to you in plenty of time before event weekend. Team relay captains will receive the race pack for their whole team. If you do not receive it please contact [email protected] This pack will contain essential items for your race including a security wristband, bib number and safety pins, helmet, bike sticker, timing chip, and vehicle access pass.
Do I need a wetsuit?
Wetsuits are compulsory for this triathlon for the safety of our participants. Your wetsuit will keep you warm and improve your swimming speed; a wetsuit provides you with extra buoyancy and the higher you are the faster you swim. Your wetsuit must be a neoprene and we recommend a full body wetsuit, it can be a ‘shorty’.
Can I listen to headphones during the event?
No, personal music devices are not allowed as you will not be able to hear marshals or others around you.

Water will be handed out on the run course and at the finish line. There will be no water stations on the bike course – it is your responsibility to ensure that you have enough fluid to keep yourself hydrated on the bike leg.
Does my bike helmet meet safety standards?
Your helmet will pass the safety inspection as long as it has no cracks in it, has no damage to it and bears a CE & EU safety mark inside it. The strap must also be in good working order.

Fantastic event all round. Great for a first tri. Lovely swim, then nice to cycle on closed roads. Transitions can feel long but apart from that excellent course.

What can I say? Ideal setting, great organisation well thought out course and closed roads! And not to mention the most regal of transition areas. The only negative is the cost for spectators (£40 or thereabouts for two)

First time doing this event and from
the start it was a great day. The event as a whole was very well organised and coordinated. Event area loaded with stands an stalls and plenty to do for the kids. The event itself was layed out well, really enjoyed the cheeky uphill run after the swim to transition. Transition was well organised with no areas were a #hangingout triathlete could go wrong and both the bike and running routes being enclosed challenging but fun. Further loads of first time and experienced triathlete took part which made for a great atmosphere. One piece of advice is to arrive as early as possible, I had 2 hours which ment for a non rushed look round, checking swim start, finish, transition entry exits and as it's a lap course noting where I had to cut of or merge on both the bike /run routes.
    Recomend this event to anyone.
Challenge yourself or stay the same !
