FAQs
Can I enter on the day?
No, registration will be in advance - it is very likely, because we are limited to 400 participants, that the Christmas Pud 5k will sell out quickly.
What happens if I enter but cannot take part?
If you let organisers know two weeks before the event (November 19th) that you are unable to take part, then we will issue a refund. We are unable to offer refunds after that date, while totally sympathetic to illness and outside events.
What happens if the race is cancelled because of bad weather?
We have organised a provisional back-up date of Sunday, December 10th at 10.15am.
What happens if you are forced to cancel the event?
All participants will be entitled to their money back. Participants will be alerted by email how to do this. However, in the spirit of the event, which is to raise money for the Harbour Cancer Support - and all proceeds will go direct to them (there are no admin costs) - we would hope participants would not seek a refund and donate their entry fee. Instead, with hundreds of Christmas puddings to get rid of, we will make arrangements for those puddings to be collected in time for Christmas. So you won't be left empty-handed!
When can we collect our event numbers?
These will be available from the registration desk beside the Bayside Cafe from 9.15am.
Will the event be timed?
No, because this is a non-competitive event, there will not be any official timing or places. If you are chasing a 5km personal best, then go for it, but you will need to time yourself.
What about refreshments?
There will be refreshments available in the Bayside Cafe after the event.
Will there be marshals along the route?
Yes, there will be marshals to keep you safe, but the route is fairly simple and straightforward.
What should I wear on the day?
Wear what you want. Be mindful that this is the coast when it can get windy and cold. But we are encouraging participants to dress up in something festive - Santa suits, Sugar Plum Fairies, even the occasional Christmas Pud. Go on - be creative!!
Will all proceeds go to Harbour Cancer Support
Yes, the Christmas puddings have been kindly donated, therefore all of the race entry fees will go towards the charity which has been jointly chosen by Gosport Rotary Club and the Absolute 545 RunClub.
Can I bring a pushchair or enter with my dog?
Yes, you can bring a pushchair and also take part with your dog. The promenade will be crowded with runners and other people enjoying the coast, so please by mindful of those around you.
