Route information

Experience the stunning natural beauty of Delamere Forest in Cheshire, choosing between 16km, 10km, 5km or Mini miler run.

The Defeat Delamere course consists of gravel paths and trails throughout the impressive forest. If it has been raining expect parts of the course to be muddy. This undulating route is perfect for beginners and PB hunters alike. Experience the fantastic wildlife whilst you race.

The courses are signposted and well marshalled and cover stunning views of the forest. As this is a trail run, runners can potentially expect mixed terrain, hills, loose surfaces and exposed tree roots – all adding to the thrill of the Defeat Delamere.

Parking

There will be on-site parking, a small fee of £3 will apply so make sure to pay. There are 3 local car parks available:

Treetops car park: This is close to the train station and is a 5-minute walk from the event centre
Whitefield Car Park: This is located off the B5152 and has plenty of parking
Main Visitor Centre Car Park: This car park has accessible car parking spaces

By Train

The closest train station is Delamere Railway Station, located on Station Road, a 15-minute walk from the start line.

Event day logistics

On the day you can collect your race pack including race number and timing chip at the registration tent set within the charity village. Registration opens at 8.30am. Please note the mini miler will not be chip timed.

Race times are as follows:

09:30am - 16km / 09:45 - 10km / 10:00 - 5km / 10:05 - Mini Miler

Age Requirements

You must be 16 or older for the 16k. Those 15 and over can take on the 10k and 14 or over to sign up for the 5k. The mini-miler is open to ages 3 and over, or younger infants in running buggies.

Bag drop

There will be a bag drop for all participants to make use of during the event. This will be located at the start line.

Event photography

There will be event photography available for all participants, make sure to bring your game face. All photos will be provided free of charge.

Charity

This event is organised by Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation and all profits from the race along with any additional sponsorship money raised will be used to support all those affected by lung cancer.

First Aid

First aid for Defeat Delamere is provided by Urgent Care Northwest.

Can I run with my dog at the Defeat Delamere?

Unfortunately, animals are not allowed on the course. Guide dogs and support dogs are also not allowed. If you require a guide runner, make sure to contact the organiser before the event.
