Route information
The Halifax Half & Marathon are the perfect events to kick off a great season of summer running. It will be a lapped route taking you through the best that Halifax has to offer, showing off its mixture of urban, woodland, and industrial heritage.
The beginning of the route will be a slow and challenging uphill grind, with runners being rewarded with awesome views as they crest the top of the highest hill and are treated with downhill miles as they breeze across the finish line. Marathoners will get to do this all over again on their second lap of the course, giving the opportunity to see sights you may have missed on your first time around.
After the race, celebrate with hot and cold food and drink served in the nearby cafe.

i did the half in 2018 my 2nd time and loved the tough hilly course but well worth it for the views love these low key events this year will be doing the marathon there and the course is not for the faint hearted

Really enjoyed the challenging route. Loved the hills! Organisation could have been better. More steward's and directions. The medal wasn't great to say it was an additional cost considering the race was around £27 regardless so the most expensive I've run for what you actually get. Should have been a bespoke medal.

Loved the route, challenging but worth it for the scenery. However, it was poorly signposted and I took wrong turns twice and then had to wait for another run to come along to find out where to go. The event website caused confusion as people did not realise you had to pay for the post-race t-shirt or medal in advance. The website advertised the wrong start time for the half-marathon which caused issues for those queuing for the ONE toilet. The race has great potential to be fantastic, but the organisation side just needs sorting out. It's put me off doing the Huddersfield run with White Rose Marathons as i'd worry about getting lost.

Very hard course Disappointed with the water being in plastic cups rather than bottles Apart from that very enjoyable

Went a mile further on second lap, because arrow signs are very small and hard to spot when tired. Also it said that shirt included in price, but ended up paying £5 for one. But still enjoyed the challenge of the course.

Extreamly Tough course - not particularly well organised- no Marshall at places where you could have gone wrong - bit of a concern at to lack of medical support ! Not many supporters but when you search Halifax marathon it is very confusing as to where you should be ie one says "the shay stadium" another says Dean clough therefore some of my support never saw me Finnish 🤔

I’ve attended a fair few half’s and this has to be one of the most relaxed and chilled one.Bigger isn’t always best.Great route, even hills were nice (although not at the time)An event organised with care and volunteers were great .

The organisation was poor, one toilet only, so big queue, 3 water stations, 2 unmanned until some locals helped out. No marshals at junctions but there were arrows to guide you. Mix-up with the t-shirt and a poor quality medal. Very hilly first 6 miles then steady running to the finish, met some lovely runners and I enjoyed the challenge but I won't be doing it again!
