About
Fancy a swift half? Bog off to that. This is the UK’s toughest half marathon where Mother Nature will deliver that sinking feeling and more. The bar in extreme mud runs is about to be set at a new level (which is incidentally chest high in “Lucifer’s Lido”). Methane-munching HellRunners are now being recruited to tackle the notorious Bog of Doom — where the heart-thumping Devil’s Disco will rock you to glory.Epic will not describe your experience. We’ll have you in tears… pain and laughter in equal doses actually. Pyro, fun run, Liverpool’s largest drum ensemble (Katumba), hose wash, fabulous finish line rewards. It just doesn’t stop… but will you?As running experiences go, this is Heaven from Hell. Run Happy.

Did the HellRunner in 2018
My first time running this event and it is one of my favourites - the whole thing is slightly barmy. A lot of the race is very pleasant trail running through the forest, occasionally you get mad scrambles up and down steep banks and through muddy ditches. At certain points on the course you will arrive at something odd such as Lucifer's Lido, a water crossing that (depending on your height) may require some swimming. Another unique feature of this race is the disco tent in the middle of the forest which is staffed by angels bearing baskets of treats and bottles of water. Finally the Bog of Doom is a long slog through a bog which is full of underwater hazards waiting to trip you up.The distance may have been a half marathon but it didn't feel like it as I was having too much fun. Looking forward to another go this year.
