Route information
Escape the everyday and unleash your wild side at Ragnar Trail Vermont, July 9-10, 2027. Just 2.5 hours from Boston near the charming town of West Windsor, your team will gather at stunning Mt. Ascutney to tackle three unforgettable loops. Picture emerald forests, winding single and doubletrack paths, sparkling streams, and sweeping mountain views sweeter than maple syrup.
GREEN LOOP (2.9-ish mi)
Start weaving through peaceful woodlands and open fields with early valley views. Cross bubbling brooks and navigate mossy rock gardens along classic Vermont singletrack, then enjoy a flowing downhill back to the Village.
YELLOW LOOP (5.3-ish mi)
Begin on wide grassy trails, glide over quiet wetlands via wooden boardwalks, cross sunlit meadows, and disappear into a lush canopy of maple, birch, beech, and pine.
RED LOOP (6.5-ish mi)
Follow golden fields waving in the breeze, take in panoramic mountain views, then dip into shaded forests with hand-built bridges over crystal-clear streams. End with the awe-inspiring sight of Cascade Falls, an 84-foot waterfall tumbling down granite cliffs.
BLACK LOOP (14-ish mi)
For the bold and adventurous, this loop explores rugged terrain, dense forests, and ridge-top clearings with breathtaking vistas—an epic tour of Mt. Ascutney’s wild, untamed beauty.
What's included
Get ready for a full-throttle, 3-day Ragnar Trail weekend packed with camping, running, and all-around adventure! Roll in Thursday to claim your campsite, kick back with your crew, and soak up the pre-race vibes before the trails call. If a hot shower sounds too good to pass up, you can snag a hotel room just steps from the Village—for a little extra cash, of course. So round up your wildest, most adventurous friends and dive into an epic, nature-packed weekend you won’t forget (unless you’re too tired to remember!).
Your registration includes
- Finisher's medal
- Participant T-shirt
- Team Goodie bag
Age Restrictions
Runners must be at least 12 years old. Participants under 18 need a parent or legal guardian to sign a waiver, and teams with minors must have at least one adult (25+) at the race. That adult may camp with the team for free and can pace minor runners.

Get full directionsARRIVAL PROCESS
We get it—arrival isn’t exactly the highlight of your weekend, we appreciate your patience as we herd thousands of awesome humans in. There’s plenty of room to park and pitch your tent, but we need your teamwork to keep gear drop and parking running smoothly—because nobody likes a traffic jam when you’re this close to the fun!
Heads up: No arrivals before 4 PM on Thursday—early birds will get sent back to town (no camping in the parking lot, sorry!). Try to keep your team to 2 cars. It’s better for the planet—and way easier than playing car Tetris at arrival and departure! As you arrive, follow the signs that lead you to "Gear Drop" and "Parking." Volunteers will direct you to where you can park and unload.
DEPARTURE PROCESS
After an epic weekend of dirt, sweat, and glory, it’s time to head home like the trail legends you are. For a smooth exit, follow these steps:
Clean Up Your Campsite
Leave no trace (except good memories). Use the trash and recycling bags from check-in and toss waste in the right bins—help us help Mother Nature and our clean-up crew.
Pack Up & Head to Gear Drop
Bring all your gear to the Gear Drop before grabbing your car. If you’re lucky enough to be parked nearby, feel free to skip the drop and go straight to your vehicle.
Load Up at Gear Drop
Once you’ve got your car, swing back to Gear Drop and load up. But don’t roll in early—no parking, no lingering, no camping out in the driver’s seat. Think airport drop-off... but with more mud.

Age Restrictions
Runners must be 12 or older to participate. Any participant under the age of 18 must have a parent or legal guardian sign a waiver. Any team with one or more participant(s) under the age of 18 must also have at least 1 adult (25 or older) with them at the race. The adult can camp with the team at no cost and can pace minor runners.
Pace
Your team must have an average of at least an 11-minute per mile pace to finish the course in the specified timeline. Don't worry if you don't hit that pace, we will work with you so you can still complete the course as a team and get your medals.
Safety Gear
Every runner should have a good headlamp. It is recommended to have one with 70 lumens or more.
Event Rules
The rules outlined below are enforced and include Venue, Permitting, City/County/State, and Ragnar that may directly affect our permits and legal compliance. Violations of rules listed below and in the Trail Race Guide may result in disqualification. Officials may also disqualify teams on the spot without prior warning for what they deem to be serious rule violations.
TAKE NOTHING: Take nothing but photos. Leave natural or historic objects as you find them.
LEAVE NOTHING: No littering. Leave nothing but footprints.
NO DOGS: No dogs on the course, at the campsite, in the Village, or at the event per our Insurance Requirements. We love dogs too, but this is a safety issue for participants and for the dogs. Service dogs (not ESA) are allowed, but they must remain on a leash at all times.
NO GENERATORS: No generators are allowed in the campsite, village, or on course.
NO DRONES: Non-official use of drones is prohibited without special approval.
NO CAMPFIRES: Propane or other cooking stoves are permitted, but no open flame campfires.
NO LEAVING YOUR VEHICLE at Gear Drop - Not even “just a minute” or “really quick I promise.”
NO PARKING is allowed in the Village, camping, along any road, or in the Gear Drop area because we are obligated to keep lanes open for emergencies. Any vehicle found unattended in these areas will be towed and your team may incur penalties.
QUIET HOURS: 10pm-6am - please be respectful of your fellow Ragnarians during these times.
