The course starts at the Village Hall in Penistone, it is a 6.55-mile out and back course, along high-quality surfaced gravel bike paths. At the end of the course, you will turn around at the first gate that you reach, you'll then return the way you came, past the Village Hall continuing East for 2 Miles before returning back to the Village Hall.
If you would like to run an official marathon you can complete 4.5 laps or more and have completed an ultra.

There is a small on-site car park at the Community hall with 20 spaces, but there is effectively limitless free street parking along Church Street

Race numbers will be picked up from the main room in the Community Centre.
Lap Counts
You will be given a lap counting card at registration, at the end of each lap get this punched by one of the lap punchers.
Age Requirements
Children over the age of 11 are permitted to take part in this event so long as they are accompanied by an adult at all times and do not exceed the following distances.
  • Aged 11-12 can run a maximum of 5k
  • Aged 13-14 can run a maximum of 6k
  • Aged 15 can run a maximum of 10k
  • Aged 16 can run a maximum of 15k
  • Aged 17 can run a maximum of 25k
How many laps do I need to run to run a marathon at the Yorkshire Cakeathon?
If you complete 4 laps you will count as marathon finish, you'll also be given a badge to pin to your medal ribbon to signify the distance you ran.

Do I have to run the whole time at the Yorkshire Cakeathon?
No, you can stop at any time, as long as you complete one lap you are an official finisher.

Can I leave my own food and drinks at the aid stations at the Yorkshire Cakeathon?
Yes, all participants are welcome to bring their own supplies with them, and there will be a dedicated runners table for you to leave your things.

Can I listen to music on the course at the Yorkshire Cakeathon?
Yes, but be aware that you are running on public footpaths so make sure to pay attention to other path users.

Is there a bag drop at the Yorkshire Cakeathon?
There will not be an official bag drop at the start/finish line, there will be someone around near the start so you can leave your bag there but the organiser cannot guarantee security. You can also leave your belongings in your car if you wish as the race HQ will be right at each lap mark.
