The First Tri was my first ever triathlon and I loved every minute of it.The course was great and the whole event was so well organised. Plenty of markers on the bike course making it almost impossible to get lost and lots of marshals on the run course. All of the staff and Marshall’s were amazingly helpful and so enthusiastic and encouraging (even in the rain).I can’t recommend this triathlon more to both newbies and experienced triathletes. So much so that I’m signing up for the Last Tri later in the year as I want to finish my year of triathlons the same way I started it.

The cycle route was VERY hilly, but the running route was nice. The staff who I spoke to were all really lovely, and encouraging, but I think there could have been more Marshalls on the cycle route. This really was my first triathlon, and I felt like I was the only person there for whom this was the case. Would recommend this race to people who have maybe done one or two races previously, but for actual first-timers, maybe find a flatter route…!

I finished near the back and felt rather lonely when I crossed the line. I have volunteered at many events and every time everyone is greeted as a winner. I had a great time, but felt the finish was a little flat. Thank you

Challenging but fairly enjoyable bike course, but lacking any marshalls or safety signs to warn motorists that there was a race on. Run route very complex and required four climbs of a pedestrian bridge over a railway. Transitions arrangements very poor as bike mount and dismount lines were in an active car park that also meant athletes were racing for some distance in shared space with moving vehicles and pedestrians, also with very unclear exit route out of car park and no signage to warn motorists or pedestrians that fast moving bikes would be in the car park To be honest I feel the event was unsafe.

The gap between each swimmer was too short, we were all swimming on top of each other straight away. I have done other pool tris where 5 second gap worked much better. Could do with a few more marshalls or arrows on the bike and run. Overall really enjoyed

It was good. The event was said to be a pan flat course. The cycling was tuff from the off. Enjoyed the event though.

Very well organised and Race Director was great. Any questions were answered promptly. Information was clear and sent out with good guidelines. Route marking was good and thank goodness for the lane counters in the pool. All marshalls really helpful and cheery.

This was my first triathlon and I felt very relaxed going into it as there was plenty of pre race information given by email. Also the day was very well organised and ran smoothly. Thank you Lydney.
