Route information
UTS 165
This stunning course takes in over 10,000 metres of elevation over its technical 165k. It takes in most notable peaks in the north of the Snowdonia National Park.
UTS 100
Over the 100k you will take on over 6,700 metres of elevation with epic views and stunning ridges and passes.
UTS 50
Although this is the shortest route of the 3, it is not an easy option! This wonderful introduction to trail running takes in a remarkable 66 metres elevation per km, on mostly mountainous trails.
Whichever race you are taking part in, you will experience unbridled ultra-trail running on rugged alpine-scale terrain.

What to bring
Due to the extreme nature of this event, you will be subject to a FULL kit check at registration prior to collecting your race number. Spot checks will be in operation on the course and those found not carrying the necessary equipment will be subject to INSTANT DISQUALIFICATION. The mandatory kit requirements are as follows:
Suitable footwear and clothing. Road shoes are unacceptable.
Survival BAG, not blanket.
Map (supplied at registration), compass and ability to use both effectively.
Whistle.
Mobile phone.
Capacity to carry at least 1.5L fluid.
Full WATERPROOF body cover: Jacket with taped seams and hood, trousers with taped seams.
Warm hat (‘Buff’ acceptable) & gloves.
Cup/mug etc. suitable for consuming a hot drink/soup as well as cold drinks.
Waterproof bag (carrier bag acceptable) containing: Spare thermal long-sleeve top, full-length thermal bottoms and second spare warm hat (‘Buff’ acceptable)
Emergency fuel (minimum 400kCal) not to be consumed during the race.
TWO fully functioning headtorches, BOTH with spare batteries.
A device with ability to give grid reference: GPS watch or Smartphone with suitable App. If using GPS watch(es), ensure they provide suitable battery life.
Due to the lengthy nature of the event, those at the slower end of the field will need to plan to ensure any electronic devices have adequate battery life to function throughout the whole event. This may mean choosing equipment that can be charged on-the-go. UTS-100 runners, please make use of the half-way drop bag to change/charge device batteries.

How tough is the Ultra-Trail Snowdonia?
This event is extremely tough and participants require considerable experience and fitness to enter. The UTS 165 has a completion rate of 28%.

How is the Ultra-Trail Snowdonia marked?
The course will be marked with reflective orange markers on average every 50m. This may be 100m in more obvious sections and 20m in less obvious sections.
