The Novice Triathlon is for anyone new to the sport and looking for a first race to take on. The race will be short and speedy, and a wonderful opportunity for a stress-free way to get into triathlon.

This Sprint Triathlon is perfect if you're looking for a slightly tougher challenge, and still a great race for anyone new to the sport, but also slightly more experienced triathletes as well. Participants will take on two laps of the hilly course around Winchester.
Children’s Triathlon
100m Swim, 2k Bike, 1k Run

This race is suitable for children between the ages of 8 and 15, and takes place entirely within the school grounds. The swim will take place in a shallow pool before the bike and run sections see the children racing around the grass fields outside.
This brilliant event will have a wonderful atmosphere and will be a day out to remember for the whole family.

Kings School is in on the west edge of Winchester. The town can be accessed from the M3 or the A34, and the school is on Sarum Road.
By Train
Winchester Train Station is approximately 2 miles from the School.

Age Restrictions
You must be at least 16 to take part in either the Novice or Sprint Triathlons. The Children's Triathlon is for children between the ages of 8 and 15.
Race Packs
Race Pack Collection will be available the day before the race at the optional pre-registration event. Race packs are also available for collection on event day from the Registration Desk – your pack will include your race bib, chip timer and swim hat.
Once you have collected your race pack, affix your race numbers (the onsite staff will be on hand to assist). The stickers are for your Bike, Helmet and Transition Bag/Box. Your race pack will also include your swim hat and timing chip – this goes on your left ankle.
Mandatory Kit
- Photo ID: To collect your race pack
- Swimsuit or Tri Suit
- Swim Hat: This is given to you at registration in your Race pack (specific colours depending on your race number)
- Towel: Only needs to be small to wipe the dirt off your feet before the bike
- Bike: Mountain or road bike
- Helmet
- Race Belt: For wearing your race number, no need for safety pins! (optional)
- Water bottle and water
- Appropriate Shoes: For the bike and the run
Recommended Kit
- Lubricant: To stop chafing
- Elastic Laces: No need to tie your shoes, save time in transition
- Bag: For all your kit in transition
Swim
You will need to report to the Pool Side 20 minutes prior to your race start, to receive your timing chip. Make sure you are wearing your event swimming cap and goggles, so you are ready to go, and that you have warmed up prior to your race.
Bike Transition
Follow signs to transition to rack your bike. Make sure you have attached your bike stickers and wear your helmet when you enter transition.
Bag Drop
It is recommended that you arrive ready to race. There will not be any baggage storage facilities. You will be able to leave a small number of items in transition but all personal belongings are left at the owner’s risk.
Water Stations
There are no water stations provided around the route so please bring your own water bottle and sufficient water for the race.
Event Rules
- Personal stereos, MP3s, iPods or equivalent are not permitted at any point during the race
- You are not allowed to mark your position in transition in any way
- Your cycle helmet must be fastened on your head before you touch your bike and remain fastened on your head until your bike is back on the rack
- No nudity in transition
