The TD Five Boro Bike Tour takes you on a 40-mile, bucket-list-worthy ride starting in Lower Manhattan. From there, you’ll cruise uptown through Central Park and Harlem, dip into the Bronx, swing back down along the East River, and cross iconic bridges like the Queensboro and Verrazzano-Narrows. FAQs

When will I get my wave assignment?
Wave assignments will be emailed by April 28. Standard riders who want to start with friends or family should join the same team and select the same start preference—these riders will be placed in Wave 2 or later. Bike New York Members are automatically grouped in Standard Wave 1 and don’t need to form teams. Charity riders are assigned to Wave 1 under their fundraising organization, and VIP riders are also placed in Wave 1 without forming teams. You can choose to move to a later wave to ride with others, but not an earlier one. If you purchased shipping, your Rider ID Kit—containing your wave info—will be sent out in mid-April.

Do I have to be on a team? What's the purpose of teams?
If you’re a Standard rider and want to start in the same wave as friends or family, you can join the same team and select the same start preference—this is optional. Bike New York Members are automatically placed in Standard Wave 1 and do not need to join a team. Charity riders and VIPs are both assigned to Wave 1 by default. You can move to a later wave to ride with others, but not to an earlier one. Already registered? You can create a team by opening your confirmation email, clicking Manage Booking, then Edit your team selection, and choosing Start a team. Enter your team name, choose public or private (private teams require an invite link or code), and follow the prompts to finalize it. To join an existing team, go to Manage Booking from your confirmation email, click Edit your team selection, then Join an existing team. Search for the team name or use the invite code if it’s private, and you’re good to go!

What kind of bike is allowed on the Tour? Can I use my e-bike?
You’re welcome to ride any human-powered, pedal-driven bike—whether it’s a recumbent, unicycle, tandem, trike, or similar. The only exceptions are surrey or party bikes with steering wheels. Class 1 pedal-assist e-bikes are allowed on the Tour, but Class 2 throttle e-bikes (even with the throttle disabled) are not permitted at any Bike New York event.

Are there age restrictions for the Tour? Do I have to register my child?
Children under 3 are not permitted on the Tour. Kids aged 3 and up must be registered and follow these guidelines: ages 3–9 must ride with an adult using a tandem, child seat, tag-along bike, or trailer; ages 10–17 can ride their own bikes but must stay close to the adult they’re registered with.

Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes, helmets are required on all Bike New York events. No ifs, ands, or buts.
