Combining stunning scenery, a lively atmosphere, and an incredible Start & Finish Downtown, the event has been named one of the best marathons in the US by USA Today and Runners World.
A boutique marathon nestled in the foothills of the Rockies with stunning views throughout the course, Boulderthon offers a marathon, half marathon, plus an all-new, all-roads 10K, and 5K, as well as a Kids Run. Marathon
The marathon course starts in vibrant downtown Boulder, heading down Pearl Street and then into the city’s scenic backroads, past Valmont City Park. As the route winds out towards Valmont Reservoir, you’ll cross Boulder Creek and continue to Gunbarrel.
At the halfway mark, you’ll head through the town of Niwot, past the Mountain View Fire Station Cheer Station, and then head back in the direction of Gunbarrel. Running onto Jay Road, you’ll turn onto Independence Road, skirting the runways of Boulder Airport. The 22-mile checkpoint will keep you going, with a feed station and live music.
The final section of the course weaves past Hayden Reservoir, following Wonderland Creek into Valmont City Park. Hitting Mapleton Avenue, the finish line will be in sight as you head onto Mapleton Mile for a spectacular finish on historic Pearl Street Mall!
Cut-off time: 2:30pm
Half Marathon
Half marathon runners will follow a similar route, beginning on Pearl Street and heading out towards Valmont Park. At Gunbarrel, runners will loop back down 63rd Street, heading onto Jay Road and past Boulder Airport. Half marathon runners will also get to experience the incredible finish-line on the bricks at the Pearl Steet Mall!
Cut-off time: 2:30pm
10K
The 10kK is the perfect fall race, with a route taking in the streets of Downtown Boulder and some of the amazing views offered by the city. You’ll head along Pearl Street and then onto Pearl Parkway, where you’ll be spurred on by live music! Just after Valmont City Park, you’ll loop back towards downtown Boulder, following the same route and then turning onto Mapleton Avenue for a finish by historic Pearl Street Mall.
5K Presented by BCH
This brand new event for 2024 is an all-roads course, starting and finishing in downtown Boulder. The 5K is the flattest, fastest roads 5K prize purse and boasts the largest 5K prize purse in the nation at over $40,000.
Kids Run
Returning for its third year, the popular kids' run starts at 21st and Pearl and ends with an incredible finish on the historic Pearl Street Mall! Parents can run for free with their child, so this is the perfect introduction to running for your little ones.

Start Village, Start Line and Finish Line Locations
The Start Village is hosted on the Pearl Street Mall, between 13th and 15th. The Start Line is at 21st and Pearl. The Finish is at 15th and Pearl. Participants can either Uber or carpool to the startline using Treadshare, or can use the free parking available.

Free parking is available on race weekend at:

Bib Pickup
Boulderthon offers Early Bib Pickup (open to all) beginning Saturday, 9/22/24 through Thursday, 9/26/24 at 2pm at all Colorado Fleet Feet locations during their normal hours.
Finisher Shirts will not be available at Early Bib Pickup. Participants who pick up their packet at Early Bib Pickup can pick up their race shirt after they complete their race on Sunday 9/29/24.
Our Official Expo & Bib Pickup will take place on Pearl St Mall between 14th & 15th, on Friday, 9/27/24, from 2pm-6pm, and Saturday, 9/28/24 from 10am-6pm.You will need to bring your QR code from your final race confirmation email and a photo ID to the Race Expo to receive your bib.
Age Limits
Runners must be 9 and older for the half marathon and 13 and older for the marathon.
Gear Check
Participants will be provided with an official plastic bag to store their belongings in. Tear off the Gear Check tag from your race bib and attach it to the bag. After you complete the race, please claim your gear as soon as possible. Gear can be picked up until 3:00 PM on race day.
Boston Marathon Qualification
Boulderthon is a Boston Marathon Qualifying (BQ), USATF Sanctioned Event. If you achieve your BQ time at the 2024 Boulderthon, this will apply to the 2026 Boston Marathon.

Will there be toilets on the course at Boulderthon 2024?
In addition to toilets at the start and finish, toilets will be located at every hydration & aid station on course. These can be viewed on each course map.

What is the terrain like at the Boulderthon 2024?
98% of the courses are run on paved roads and paved multi-use paths. There is a very small packed gravel section of the route.

Of course! Participants are welcome to walk, but must ensure they adhere to the time limit rules.

Can I wear headphones during Boulderthon 2024?
There are no restrictions on the use of headphones, but their use is strongly discouraged due to safety reasons. Please keep music at a low level so you can hear instructions from course officials.

Are there corrals at the start of Boulderthon 2024?
Yes, but these are self-seeded. At the start line, there will be signs displaying different paces per mile, so you can enter the corral with your expected or goal pace per mile.
