We are a group of triathletes who are passionate about growing a Healthy Community. As we have progressed in the triathlon sport and as triathlon participation continues to hit all-time highs across the county, we felt it was time to bring a USAT Sanctioned Full, Half, and Olympic Distance Triathlons to Michigan. There are no other events of this caliber in the state. We feel this event will not only bring top athletes from across the country, it will also encourage a less experienced triathlete to participate in these next level events.

Michigan Titanium routes

The main venue for the Mi Titanium is Versluis Park in Plainfield township. A 1.2 mile loop swim will be in Versluis Lake a very clean and clear lake that does not allow the use of gas motors. The Full Tri will be a double loop swim and the Half Tri will be a single loop. Olympic distance athletes will swim out and back. The Bike will leave the park on Northland drive and quickly turn on Cannonsburg Rd, generally heading east and back with a loop course. The Full Tri will be a double loop 112 mile bike and the Half Tri will be a single loop 56 miles. Olympic athletes will head out and back on Cannonsburg Rd. Following transition back at Versluis Park, the run will head south on Northland Drive to Grand River Ave. The out & back run course will go through Plainfield, Ada and Grand Rapids Townships, remaining east of the Beltline. The Full Tri is a four lap 26.2 marathon distance, the Half Tri will be two lap at 13.1 miles, the Olympic Tri will do a single lap.

Event Details

Spectators
Versluis Park will be the heart of the action and the best place to start your day! Toilets will be available at the park for athletes and spectators. The park includes a playground for kids (Sorry, only athletes will be allowed to use the water/beach on race day and only during their swim wave.)

The swim will take place in Versluis Lake within the park. The transition area from swim/bike and bike/run will also be within the park. The bike is an out and back course, so you may want to venture out to cheer your athlete on along the course.

The athletes will then return to transition at Versluis Park and head out on the run. The run is a four-loop course for the Full distance race and two-loop for the Half distance race and an out and back for the Olympic distance. The turn around for the marathon and the finish line for all races will be in the parking lot outside Versluis Park so make sure you don’t miss that!

Where to watch:
SWIM: To state the obvious, Versluis Lake. Preferably by the water.

BIKE: There are many cross streets along the course that provide parking opportunities. There are limited shoulders on the course itself, so for the safety of the athletes please do not park on the course itself.

RUN: Note that the run course is CLOSED to traffic.
