Raceday Logistics

Where is the meeting point for my stage?
We're located at Potters Fields Park. You won't miss us!

Will the relay run on time?
It is the joint responsibility of all runners to keep the relay running to time. Please do everything in your power to prevent delays. We’re all relying on you!

Please note there is no parking at Potters Fields Park. If travelling via the London underground the nearest stations are London Bridge (10 min walk) and Tower Hill (12 min walk).

Kit List

When you’re part of a tribe this awesome, it feels great to wear the uniform.

To get you off to a flying start, we're providing each of our runners with an official London Relay t-shirt! You’ll be sent your t-shirt in the post prior to your stage or be able to collect one from our Relay Hub at Potters Field Park.

We have a gear store coming soon, so if you want to get some more great kit, you’ll be able to soon!

Spectators

Can I bring friends and family to cheers me on?
Absolutely, the more the merrier! Let's make these baton handovers the best experiences ever!

Volunteers

Become a volunteer marshal -

Whether you’re already booked to run, or don’t feel like running yet want to get involved in the City Relays’s mission to unite London, we invite you to become one of our volunteer marshals.

Volunteer marshals will be based at the Relay Base Camp, next to City Hall, where the baton is handed over roughly every hour. As a marshal you will be part of the core team.

FAQs

Do I have to fundraise as well?
There is no compulsory fundraising target but this is a fundraising event and we’d love for you to raise funds for our charity partner The Running Charity.

Does the £20 entry fee go to charity?
The entry fee goes towards paying for the cost of the event. 100% of the money you fundraise from your profile will go straight to The Running Charity.

Should I get the media involved?
Sure thing! Get in touch with your local paper, radio and TV stations and tell them what you’re doing and why. And, if you’ve got contacts who can help put the London Relay on the national news agenda too - terrific!

What if I find I am unable to run my stage?
You must notify the organisers immediately by emailing [email protected] with the subject line ‘URGENT: I CANNOT RUN MY STAGE’. If you are the lead runner on your stage and no other runners have signed up to join you, please do your best to help find a replacement runner. We regret that no refunds on registration fees can be given.

Who can run?
Anyone can run, provided you are able to maintain an average pace of 11 minutes per mile for the duration of a stage. 5k group stages are open to everyone regardless of average pace! U18s must run with a responsible adult and have signed authorisation from their legal guardian.

What a great event. I did a 5k in 2018 and a volunteer slot and am already booked in to do at least a 10K and 1 Marshall slot and may still sign up for more

Whether you do it by yourself, join a group of strangers or run with a group of friends, this event is so fun. Go for the evening times to avoid the sightseeing traffic (not that bad during busy times). Really proud to be part of the event

You don't get many chances in life to be part of something special but this relay was just amazing - great atmosphere and the thrill of handing the baton on to strangers- who quickly became friends was really moving. Fantastic location, and runners, volunteers, and passers by all had smiles on their faces - a truly ispirational event.

Oh my word how do I start this?
    This relay changed my life💛💙
It’s a beautiful 10k starting from city hall by Tower bridge, down past the london eye, past hotels/Boutiques, art galleries, gift shops, over Westminster bridge, along the river over looking the boats past the busy streets or not if you’re running through the late night & early morning, still & breathtaking london, up past The Tower of London then over the iconic tower bridge where you can see your finish, down again heading towards City hall to be met by a wall of yellow & noise(the Marshall’s) who are cheering you in 💛💙
Pats on backs, hugs, watches stopped, water & snacks placed in your hands & a medal rung around your neck... then the chatting about the route starts, the twists the turns more hugs & as the baton is passed over “Don’t drop the Baton!!” & photos are taken off goes the next team or even lone runner, more clapping whooping ensuing ... as a runner time to take in your surroundings

The route is just stunning taking in london at its best, then there’s the people who make this relay the best ... the hugs, slaps on backs, the talking & more importantly the swooping of stories& tales,
& adventures shared with each other
Inspiring stories of hope & adventures shared ... really for me it’s the people of the relay that make it what it is .. which is inspiring, thought provoking full of colour & it lifts your spirits... & have I told you about the laughter & sharing of the joy of the runs... 💛💙
You may arrive as a stranger to this relay but you always leave as a new friend, inspired to make a difference in the small ways that are extremely important ... you will leave your run that day & I promise you will soon return
Acceptance and tolerance understanding love hope and inspiration will always find you at this relay

    I LOVE IT 💛💙

I did two stages of the London City Relay last summer--and each stage blew me away with the friendly and fun atmosphere. I did one with a smaller group and one with a bigger group, chatting and laughing and posing for photos with the relay baton, and then crossing the Tower Bridge! That was incredible because you could hear all the supporters cheering you on! Heading back into the home stretch and Relay HQ are the music and joy was second to none. Plus the finishing stage party was just awesome. Huge inflatable unicorn, beer, people hugging... it was an incredible experience and I CANNOT WAIT to do it again this year!!! Plus having the event support a London youth charity is just amazing. Run run run and get yourself signed up. Plus this year I hear there are awesome medals for all runners! VERY COOL.

Did a middle of the night slot with brilliant company from Annie Ross. Really loved running through central London in the middle of the night whilst everyone else slept and was a really beautiful course. Looking forward to being involved this year!

A really cool event and all for a great cause. I did my leg with a bunch of mates mid week after work. The free t shirt and refreshments on arrival was a lovely touch.

Ran the 5km finale last year and absolutely loved it! The London Relay is such a wicked celebration of all that makes London great. Can't wait to run this year too!

Fantastic cause with really enthusiastic organizers. Huge respect for those who were pulling night shifts keeping this relay going for 30 days straight, and I wish them well with future attempts! The course is fine, but I imagine you might get lost, get to know the route. I ran this with a big team of people, so great atmosphere the whole way around. Keep up the good work!
