About
The Essar Chester Half Marathon is the third longest-running half marathon in the UK and one of the most highly regarded half marathons in the country, starting and finishing in the heart of the historic Roman/medieval international destination city of Chester. The race marks the second event in the Chester Triple Medal series.
Join us for what will be an amazing day of running, full of inspirational moments and celebrations. This event sells out every year!
The predominantly flat city and rural race route is run entirely on closed roads.
The event hosts a qualifier for the England Athletics Age Group Masters Half Marathon Championship.
Join the increasing number of runners taking part in the Chester Half Marathon for charity — either with our official race charity, Run for Alder Hey Children's, or your own cherished cause.
All our races are licensed by UK Athletics and run under their rules. To run the Chester Half Marathon you must be at least 17 years old on race day.
FUN RUN: our Fun Run is open to anyone but is aimed primarily at children. Accompanying parents, guardians and grandparents are welcome — but please note you need to enter too. The Fun Run (approximately 1 mile) is run wholly within Chester Racecourse, starting and finishing at the main race start.
