Route information

The route covers park, city and sea! Starting off in Southampton Guildhall Square, all runners travel to the bottom of the the city past the QE2 Anchor and Southampton Docks. The Full, Half and 10K runners ascend over the Itchen Bridge while the 5K continue on the city side. After completing a loop in Woolston and along Weston Shore, the Full, Half, and 10K runners come back over the bridge and head towards St Mary's. Here the routes split, the Full and Half run pitch side through St Mary's Stadium and the 10K reunite with the 5K runners to complete their stretch to the finish line.
The Full and Half runners travel over Northam Bridge, through Riverside Park and up Burgess Road. Then runners proceed through the University of Southampton Campus and into the grassy Southampton Common! After completing Southampton Common runners head down The Avenue, onto London Road and head towards the Finish! The Full Marathon runners then head off to complete their second lap.

By Car
The Guildhall is situated in the centre of Southampton. The city can be accessed from the M27 or the M3.
Parking
There are lots of car parks in Southampton, Westquay car parks are now open 24 hours a day and the majority of Council Car Parks will be open from 6am.
By Train
The nearest train station is Southampton Central, it is approximately 0.4 miles from the race village area (10 minutes).
By Bus
Please check with local operators for bus services over the weekend. Bluestar and Unilink.

Race Pack
Race numbers with race information will be sent out in advance of your race, cut off timings for a posted pack will be displayed on our website in the new year. Your timing chip will be attached to your number. Please ensure your address is correct when signing up.
Age Restrictions
18 years old to take part in the Marathon
17 years old to take part in the Half Marathon
15 years old to take part in the 10K
12 years old to take part in the 5K
Cut-off times
Runners must have completed the first lap of the Marathon by 12:00 and must complete the full Marathon by 15:00. There will be motivators at the back of the race so no one will be left on their own.

FAQs

Where can I leave my bag during the ABP Southampton Marathon?
There is a baggage drop area in the Guildhall. This must be labeled with your tag and race number. There may be queues, so please plan ahead.
Is there a cut-off time for the ABP Southampton Marathon?
Yes, 12:00 is the cut-off time for the first lap of the Marathon and 15:00 is the cut-off time for the completion of the Marathon.
Can I wear headphones while I run the ABP Southampton Marathon?
Anyone not competing for a podium place may now wear headphones, however it is asked that you keep one earbud out to listen for instructions and other runners.
