Route information
This undulating, multi-terrain course takes place within and around the stunning Denbies Wine Estate. All routes offer beautiful views over the Mole Valley, Ranmore Common, and the North Downs, and runners are welcome to run as quickly as possible or take their time and enjoy the wine-sampling stations on the route.
The drinks stations are what separates this event from all the others. Not just any old drinks stations, each drink station offers samples of Denbies Wine and food as well as the usual water offered for hydration along the route. After the race, enjoy the hog roast where the party carries on.
A completely traffic-free course, all routes start and finish by the main building at Denbies, and there's only one crossing of a major road which will be directed by marshals.

This was my second Bacchus. I am part of a team, 29 od us took part this year.Lovely landscape, good wine, great pulled roast at the end. We love the choir, live music and bag piper, as well as the photographs, and the friendly and lively commentaries as we pass the finishing line. Great day overall, however a couple of remarks. The course now comprises of a very steep and narrow hill around mile 6/7, where people walk and cannot be overtaken, and in any case, it would be too long to run at all. It spoils the run a bit. Also, and more sadly, on the last stop (the one with the great live band), the person in charge of the wine went out of her way to make everyone feel very unwelcome. She was rude ans killed the atmosphere. I wouldn't happily return if she is left at a stand again. Her behaviour was shocking.

Missed a turning despite marshalls as slower runners still completing start. Would be clearer to publish the route beforehand, separate out runners wanting to go faster, have a route that isn't repeating itself to avoid confusion.

The event was really well organised and marked, with a great atmosphere. The only thing I could reccomend would be to have the water stops on the other side of the path or a little seperate from the wine and snack tables, as this might help break up the lines into those that just want to run and have water and those that want the full experience, and maybe reduce the queue. Great event though.

We had an absolutely brilliant time at the Bacchus half marathon, however, we were all quite surprised and frustrated that there was no water for runners at several of the stations.

This is the 2nd time I've done this run. It's brilliant, lovely setting and great atmosphere. This year though the queues for the wine/water stations were too long as people weren't ushered along when they got to the tables. This meant queuing for 20-25 mins if you had the patience. Also, the 2nd water station had run out of water by the time we got there. I do love this run, but maybe this could be something to look at for next year.

They were packing everything up by the time we reached each stall, even in the middle of the day. Didn't even have the band still playing when we arrived back...

What a great choice for mine and my friends first half marathon. It was simple to sign up and register and the party atmosphere throughout was brilliant. Same time next year!!
