About

BUN RUN
Social Half Marathon with Bakery Stops
BUN RUN is a social half marathon around Edinburgh with a twist. Instead of racing from start to finish, runners move at a relaxed pace and stop at a selection of independent bakeries along the route, picking up a pastry at each stop before continuing on.
The route covers approximately 21 km and starts and finishes at Calton Hill, following a carefully planned course that links together a number of independent bakeries across the city. The focus is on community, conversation and enjoying the run rather than pace or finishing time.
This is not a race and there are no results or prizes. The aim of the day is to run together, experience the route as a group and enjoy the bakery stops along the way.
Runners will be split into paced groups, with each group starting slightly apart to keep the event relaxed and manageable at every stop. Each group will run together, stopping briefly at each location before continuing on the route and returning to the finish where the final bakery stop will be waiting.
Planned pace groups will be approximately 5:30 min/km, 6:00 min/km, 6:30 min/km and 7:00 min/km.
You will choose your pace group when purchasing your ticket so that we can organise runners in advance.
This is not a closed road event. The run takes place on pavements, paths and public spaces, so all runners must be aware of their surroundings and respectful of members of the public at all times.
At each stop you will receive a baked item, however this will not always be a full pastry. Portions will be smaller items or half pastries to keep the run manageable from both a running and eating point of view, and to allow us to work with a range of bakeries across the city while keeping the experience enjoyable.
Food for this event is supplied by independent bakeries and we are not able to cater for allergies or dietary requirements. This includes vegan, gluten free, dairy free, nut free or other specific requests.
The event will start and finish at Calton Hill, where runners will receive their final bakery item and have time to relax and socialise after the run.
This event is capped at 300 runners to keep the experience enjoyable for everyone involved.
