Would not recommend doing this course in the dark and the rain. It was incredibly muddy walking towards the start line and very poorly lit en route. There was only one marshall who I felt actually wanted to be there and who managed to muster up the energy to encourage and praise the runners as one would expect. Also, 4 laps round the same bit of ground is tedious! There were also a couple of bits to eat at the end and noone could tell me whether they were vegan or not! One was a homemade looking flapjack that had absolutely no allergen markers on it and one was a pack of Love Corn which did not explictly state vegan and was different to the one in the pictures in the emails sent out. Out of all of the 5 and 10kms I have done, I would not do this one again.

Great race, fast course and well organised. Just a shame about the weather as it poured with rain from start to finish!

I noticed that the 10km runners ran 20min after the 5km runners. Last time I did the 5km we ran after the 10km runners which made sense. Especially in the winter as you're asking your marshals to stand in the cold and rain for 20 mins longer. I suggest you start with the 10km runners next time I

Yes slick preparation. Needs more lighting at the start.

The race was fun and very well marshalled. The marshals were in particular extremely encouraging and helpful. The only issues was that due to the heavy rain and darkness it was somewhat hazardous going to and from the portaloos. Also once in the portaloos it was extremely difficult to see unless you had a torch. For such future events can I suggest that these loos are placed on steady ground and in some or with some light. Also because of the extreme conditions it was hazardous when walking to the start as it was across a very muddy and slippery trail. At least one person fell over. I would also like to point out that there was nearly an accident when a couple of 10k runners walking from the bandstand almost walked right in front of the leading 5k runner. In future perhaps consider a direct route for runners going to the start that does not cross the main race route? I hope that these constructive comments will be well received because this is a great event but the exceptionally wet weather made it a bit hazardous in the areas stated above. However once on the course the route was exceptionally marshalled and made as light as possible,

The bag drop area was not secure and I was not happy about leaving my possessions there, so I could not run. This was extremely disappointing because the pre-race literature promised a secure bag drop. People were coming and going from the bandstand and no organisers were able to check bags left with the actual owner.

It was raining at the start of the race which led to a bit of congestion at the bag drop. Runners left bags at the bandstand and were reluctant to leave as this was the only shelter. Other than that the organisation was up to its usual very high standard and the marshals were out in force giving us lots of encouragement.
