Great Bentley Half Marathon

It was absolutely fantastic. Great support from the Marshalls. Well sign posted. Water stations really great. 100% brilliant all round. Thank you.

February can be chilly! Parts of the course are exposed. 

Easy to find the event., easy to park, walk to event HQ quite a distance but fine.Start hassle free, Scenic course, great marshal's with plenty of encouragement out on course, lots of water available. A few short uphill sections but largely flat.Enjoyed the finishing straight as it is straight.. Happy friendly greeting after crossing the line when handed medal and treats..

Having completed a number of half marathons the Great Bentley Half was without doubt the best organised I've attended. Everything was straight forward, volunteers were excellent especially around the baggage storage area. Throughout the course the Marshalls were brilliant. Given it was a tad chilly these guys and girls were happy, smiling, cheering and really made for the occasion. The only minor thing I would suggest would be a few more toilets at the village hall. Other than that there is nothing to complain about I can only praise the organisers and volunteers for putting on a well organised event and I will certainly be registering for next year. Thank you to all those involved.

This is the first time I have ran the Bentley Half, great course and great Marshalls on route. Very well organised to from start to finish. I managed a half marathon PB to so great day for me

This is the second year I've done Great Bentley and its one of my favourite.  Lovely route and really well organised. 

Really good run with very friendly marshals all the way round. 

Great Bentley Running Club organised a fab event. Flat course, well marshaled, plenty of water stations along the route. Almost forgot to collect my medal, mars bar and banana in the excitement of having PB'd! The bacon rolls, vast array of home baked cakes and hot tea were the perfect conclusion to a very friendly race. 

Great race - marshalls did a brilliant job in the freezing cold - mars bar & banana at the finish line got my vote!

Excellent race, well organised, and a nice flat course. Only comment is that once you finish it is a little bit of a walk to pickup your bag and then walk back ti your car.

Loved it - first time at great Bentley, great support, fabulous marshals really desperate to do it again 

This was my first half marathon, I was a bit nervous but also looking forward to it , the course was excellent and the marshalls were brilliant, even when it started snowing, will definitely be signing up again next year, 5 stars 

Cracking race, first time I've done this race. I will definetly do this race again next year. I thought the marshals were great, loads of water and a nice medal

This was my first half marathon and I found it well organised with very friendly and encouraging marshalls. Thanks to all involved.  

Second year Ive ran the Bentley Half and you can see why its so popular for those searching for a PB! Very fast, flat and well organised, I was very happy to get a new PB in 1:26! I will definitely be back for a third year running! 

Really well organised, great start area, ample parking, easy bag drop, plenty of toilets, catering, good medal, fast and flat course, great marshalls all around the course. 10/10. 

Great race as always, just a shame there can't be more entrants.

Well organised event-plenty of friendly marshals helping from car-parking, on route & were ready with bags at the finish. Nice to get chocolate & a banana at the end, as well ass the bling!

It was a great well organised event. Everyone was so friendly and supportive. The marshalls in route were motivational and always smiling. I managed a PB which I am so pleased with. 

Awful as it was a personal worst but that's nothing to do with the organisation. I just had a crap day. My pb is n the course too!

Well organised event, flat race, loads of cake at the finish!

Ive run this race over s dozen time, its one of my favourite half marathons. Shame I had to watch my food as the cakes and bacon butties looked delicious. The vegan soup was superb in fact I got the ingredients and have just made some 

What a fantastic and friendly event - my first time at Bentley. Trying not to be too enthusiastic because then everybody will want to run it!

Fantastic event, particularly the marshalls, all of whom clapped and cheered every runner!

Brilliant first time running great Bentley half. Well organised, friendly marshals, lovely flat course. Very windy & cold  I think if I was to criticise anything, it would be the drink stations. I think cups would be better as most people were just having a sip and then throwing the bottle away and because the bottle is so full, its impossible to run with. Overall I loved this race. This is a great Half Marathon to start the year.  Fast and fairly flat course.  Great atmosphere, organisation and facilities.  I have now run this event for the last 4 years and will definitely run it again next year when I will be in the 70+ age group!   Well Done to the Great Bentley Running Club.

Favourite race of the year for pb potential mainly. My kind of route...fast and flat. Always well organised and marshalled. Not a lot of support on route. But it is in the middle of nowhere ! Water stations more than sufficient. Good facilities. No complaints...will be back next year (7th time in a row)

Really well organized race , Friendly and welcoming people , flat windy course , and excellent cakes to buy at the finish  

My fourth run of this course, and it remains my favourite half marathon...in no small part down to the massive PB potential of the course.There were more than enough toilets this year (always a priority!), helpfully split into mens/ladies and lots of marshalling support on the course (several crossovers meant there were plenty of opportunities to take on water).Given the rural nature of the course some stretches can feel a little exposed and lonely, but gorgeous all the same.  No wonder it sells out every year - I hope to be back!

Great local event. Very well run and marshalled. Some lonely areas of the course. Overall, a great half marathon 

Overall it was a great experience but one incident of safety soured it slightly for me. In Great Bentley's defence the race director listened to my concern and is subsequently dealing with this.

Great route, super support from the marshalls and the cake at the end was epic. Only room for improvement is if you could control the weather...! thank you everyone 

Good course, well marshalled, good support all round just a shame it was so cold,  but thoroughly enjoyed it look forward to next year.

This is my clubs event so I might be biased however I believe it is still the best local race out there by far! I know how much effort goes in to organising these races and having run the race I know it was all worth it. The lead up to the event is informative. Great on the day organisation from parking to number collection, bag drop and toilets etc. The course is fast and flat, well marshalled and supported. The new finish gantry was brilliant to see when coming on to the green for the final few hundred yards. Great medal and applause at the end. Also results quick to be posted and published. Non official photographers on the course and the wonderful selection of cakes, cookies, drinks and sandwiches at the end! 

This is a very fast and well organised race. Due to its popularity and small field it does sell out very fast (2 hours). I would like to see some places held for runners that have personal bests below a certain standard so that entry is easier to obtain when trying to build up and prepare for races.

Absolutely loved the course and the support from the marshalls was second to none. Will be back next year for sure. My favourite half marathon I've done hands down.

Nice flat course, well organised, well marshalled and the people round the course are encouraging.

What a great choice for my first half marathon. Really well organised, clear instructions from the first steps to the finish line. Limited entrants mean it's not intimidating  and everyone I met was full of encouragement. The marshals were BRILLIANT, you could not wish for better support. The course is basically flat so if you are hunting for that half marathon PB or your first "just-to-finish" half marathon add this race to your 2019 calendar! p.s. REALLY nice finishers medal :-P

Love this race. Nice fast scenic route. Definitely a good one to do as your first half or if youre after a PB. Well Marshalled with supportive happy people. Theirs a feast at the finish - tea, coffee, soup, bacon butties & cakes galore. 

Love this route so well organised with very friendly supportive Marshalls along the way always happy and encouraging you along.  Great idea to have a cup of tea and a delicious cake when you arrive back.  I highly  recommend this race.

This is a brilliantly organised race. This is my experience of the race from start to finish - On arrival there are plenty of car parking spaces not far from the start/finish area. The Village Hall offers plenty of space for meeting with club mates and supporters.  There was a lot of food and drink on offer both before and after the race. Some of the cakes looked amazing!Having separate toilet queues for men and women is a great idea and it was the first time I'd seen a men's queue longer than the ladies at a race. I heard a lot of ladies commenting on what a great idea this was. The bag store was excellent and as it looked like raining my bag was placed in a bin bag to keep it dry.  The course is flat and fast as described with a couple of little inclines around miles 8 and 11.  It's spectator friendly, my family were able to see me 3 times during the race. The marshals were all excellent and offered huge amounts encouragement some of them out in the more remote parts of the course were playing music from their cars which was a very nice touch and created some brilliant atmosphere.The finish area was well organised and I received a medal, water, banana and Mars Bar for finishing. The medal was quite unique and a little different to the normal finishers medals which was nice.  After running for as long as I have it's nice to get something different.The results were posted very quickly on the wall at the village hall and the prize giving happened promptly which meant it was well attended. It's easy to see why this race sells out so quickly each year.  I am looking forward to going back for the Friday Night 5 later on this year.

Great event will definitely sign up for this again next year! Thanks for all your organisation and thanks to all the marshalls and volunteers! 

Had a great day running at Great Bentley. We had all weathers including snow and sleet at one point.Hats off to all the marshals for standing out in the cold for so long, and staying enthusiastic and supportive.There was great team of guys out on course Sunday, especially enjoyed the dancing marshals; a great atmosphere all over.Amazing selection of cakes, and was really pleased to see along with bacon rolls there was a vegan option.

Probably one of the best half marathon in the east. A flat PB potential course. What you have to allow for is the winter weather every time I have run it we have had all the seasons. For me this year it was about seeing where I was at regarding my marathon training, which is another reason why GB is a good event a perfect tester for a spring marathon. Be back next year. 

A great course with a great support crew unfazed by the freezing conditions still managing to smile and motivate! Thank you!!

A fantastic race with PB potential if you can get your training lined up over Christmas and New Year.  Great organisation and marshalling with a fantastic collection  of home made cakes, etc  available afterwards at race HQ !

Great organisation. A fast flat course with cheerful supportive marshal's. That's why it sells out so quickly every year!  

My first Gt Bentley experience and a good one. The marshalls done a fab job in the freezing cold. Was very well organised

Brilliant race. Ample parking at the start, great atmosphere in the village hall pre & post race. Great marshals, lovely course. CAKE. CAKE.CAKE. and a PB for me! Thank you GBRC.

Thus was tough, it was cold, I'd had very little training, however, the atmosphere was amazing, and the marshalls extremely encouraging. The course was beautiful and the cakes at the end were a very welcome sight. I'd highly recommend this event to anyone, from hardcore racers looking for a fast fb, to those just starting out on longer distances. A friendly chinwag along the way with fellow competitors is guaranteed, and the smile on your face at the end is worth every ache and pain the next day! Thank you very much for a great day out. See you all again soon. 

Brilliant race well organised Marshalls in places you didn't expect which is a great help definitely one of my favourite races

My first half marathon experience and it was very good. The route was lovely and the organisation was good. The only negative I have is that the presentations could have been a little bit later as some of the slower finishers didn't get a chance to see the winners get their prizes.

Great event well organised with water and food provided on the route. Great course for setting PB's.   

Great course for hitting PBs and testing general fitness if you are targeting a PB later down the line. 

A half marathon held in rural Essex. The course is flat and fast.
