Hankley Common 10k - October

Event summary

Join this historic guided trail running experience through Hankley Common. You will visit the famous Atlantic Wall which was used by WW2 operatives to prepare for the D-Day landings. Take in the views and put yourself in a soldier's shoes as this is still an active armed forces MOD training site.

On this guided 10k tour of Hankley Common be sure to embrace the wonderful views as you traverse the gravel pathways. There are some parts of the course which may be rather treacherous. Your professional guide will make sure you can overcome any challenges. His expertise will ensure this course is an enjoyable experience for everyone.

With plenty of hills to challenge yourself this course is great for anyone looking to change up their normal running schedule. Beginners do not hesitate there will be break to admire the natural beauty of the common and to rest.

You will also visit the Atlantic Wall which was constructed for WW2 armed forces to prepare for the D-Day landings. For any film buffs attending, Hankley Common has also been the set for James Bond films as well as The Avengers. The common's natural beauty is a fantastic backdrop to any sunset so make sure to enjoy yourself and soak up the sunset.

All entrants must be at least 16 years or older.

Accessibility

This is not a race and should not be treated as such. However, all entrants should be able to at least run 10-11 min/mile (6-7 min/km) and have a good level of fitness.

  • Appropriate clothing for the weather
  • Hydration packs/water bottles

If the event is cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions the organiser will offer a refund or a transfer to a later date.

By Car

Hankley Common is easily accessible as it is just off of the A3. Full details for parking venues will be available in due course.

By Train

If travelling from London the best train to take is the Portsmouth Harbour bound train from London Waterloo Station. Get off at Godalming Railway station, from there you can take a taxi or a bus to Hankley Common.
