Route information
After the spectacular return of the Newbury 10k in 2023, this will be the 14th staging of this popular multi-terrain event. The race will start and finish in a vibrant atmosphere at the centre of the idyllic market town. There is a gentle climb for the first 3km, followed by a short descent and the rest of the course is flat. Approximately 7km of the course is on the road, with the remainder taking place on footpaths in beautiful surrounding countryside and along the tow path of the Kennet and Avon Canal, which passes directly through the town centre.
**Course update February 2024**
Following a review of the course, and taking into account feedback from last year's race, we're pleased to announce some improvements to the route. The changes remove a narrow footpath and the section over Speen Moors which has suffered water damage causing the path to become rough and unstable. A replacement section along Enborne Road has been added to make up the distance.
This event warmly welcomes entries from runners of all abilities, from novices to experienced athletes. All 10k competitors will be rewarded with plenty of support, water stations and a medal & t-shirt at the finish.
There will be two pre-event fun runs for under 16's which take place on closed roads in the town centre ‒ enter your children early to avoid disappointment as places are strictly limited. All fun run finishers will get a medal.
There is plenty of parking close to the race HQ, and an abundance of local cafés and restaurants offering post-race refreshments for runners and spectators.

Charity
Simply by entering this race you will be supporting the work of Newbury Athletic Club and our two incredible charity partners serving the vulnerable and homeless in the local area: Newbury Soup Kitchen and Loose Ends. 100% of the event's profits go to charity.
Newbury Soup KitchenExternalLink serves as a pillar of support for those in need in the Newbury and West Berkshire areas. Their approach is holistic, addressing not only the physical hunger but also the emotional and social needs of each person they encounter.
Loose Ends NewburyExternalLink is a well-established drop-in centre for those in the community who are homeless, lonely or vulnerable, as well as those who are simply struggling to make ends meet. As well as providing nutritious food, clothes, and other essentials they offer a safe friendly space where people can socialise.
Please consider fundraising for our charity partners if you are running, or, when prompted, donate what you can during the entry booking process.
Sponsors
The event organisers are immensely grateful for the generous support of the event sponsors, Gardner LeaderExternalLink, StrykerExternalLink, Castle WindowsExternalLink and HowdenExternalLink. Without their encouragement and financial contributions, it simply would not be possible to stage the race and raise funds for the charities.
Race Packs
Rack packs will be dispatched to arrive a week before the race. If you have received your race number, you do not need to register on arrival. Anyone entering after Monday 6th May will need to collect their pack on the day from the race HQ which will open at 08:30.
Cut-Off Time
There will be a cut-off time of 1 hour 40 minutes in the 10k, after which time competitors will be on the course at their own risk without support from marshals and timekeepers.

Unfortunately, the 10k course is not suitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs due to some narrow sections and uneven ground.
Dogs
Runners cannot be accompanied by dogs.
Changing and Bag Drop
Competitors are encouraged to arrive changed, but there will be limited changing facilities at the race HQ, where you can also leave your bag. The organiser will provide you with a numbered bag tag on the day. Bags are left at your own risk.
