Route information
The Purbeck Running Festival is part of the Purbeck Weekend Challenge and takes place on the stunning Jurassic Coast, with its epic landscape and views.
The festival consists of four races of varying distances, which are detailed below:
45 Mile Ultra
The most challenging of courses, the ultra takes place early morning on the Saturday. It follows a similar route to the Marathon, with athletes often having to tackle tough ascents and uneven paths.
Marathon
The Purbeck Marathon is nearer to 27 miles than the usual 26.2. It starts and finishes in Swanage, with the first stage running along the coastal path before heading through the deserted village of Tyneham. A world away from a city marathon, this course is arguable one of the most scenic marathon routes in the world.
There is a strict cut-off time of 7 hours for the marathon.
16 Mile
The Purbeck 16 is a staple event of the festival and still provides a considerable challenge. With scenery equally that of the above races, this is the perfect event for those still looking for a significant challenge but who are not quite ready for the marathon or ultra formats.
6 Mile
The second shortest event of the weekend, runners will get to enjoy this 6 mile run without too much of a challenge.
3 Mile
The shortest format of the weekend, this event provide the ideal opportunity for those who are new to off-road racing and looking to get involved. The majority of these races will take place on the coastal path and behold similarly spectacular views.
