About
Set in the beautiful grounds of Marston Lodge, this multi-distance trail weekend is a fantastic addition to the Spring running calendar. The festival consists of 3 separate running challenges that can be done as standalone events, or combined together as 'The Quest for the Golden Carrot' - so there's something for everyone! As well as the running, there's inspirational speakers, food, and live music on the Saturday evening, plus free camping for everyone who enters an event.

Route information
Start/Finish
All races start and finish at: Marston Lodge, Dick’s Hill (off Sibbertoft Road), Marston Trussell, Market Harborough, LE16 9TT
Trail Mix Challenge
You’ll do a different 5k course on the hour every hour for five hours. 25k sounds like a lot of running... But broken down into five chunks, with time to rest and make sure that you are nourished and hydrated, it is manageable for most runners that have completed 5k and 10k races previously.
Headlight Hop 10k
This is a twilight 10k event. It contains wonderful rolling hills and seriously beautiful views across the estate. The route snakes along multi-terrain tracks across farmland and in and out of forest sections.
Thump Trail Half
This two lap route will provide an interesting challenge whether it’s your first half, you’re accustomed to road, or you’re a seasoned marathoner – it is a testing, rolling route that you’ll love!
The Quest for the Golden Carrot
If you are up for a serious challenge, then 'The Quest' is for you. Complete all 3 events totalling 56.1km over the 24 hour period, and the exclusive quest bling is yours.
For the elites, the top 6 males and females (lowest cumulative time) will then qualify for the Carrot Dash. This is a ‘winner-takes-all’ 1 mile race to win one of two exclusive Golden Carrot trophies.
What's included

  • Festival vibes with inspirational speakers & live music on the Saturday

The course was hard going, but great for those who want a challenge! A well organised event, friendly and welcoming.

I would like to see spot prizes rather than top 3. Only probably 5 runners are capable of winning, yet the event goes ahead because of the other 168 runners just doing their best.

Really great!! I thought overall organisation was spot on! Event organisers were fab!!! The only thing I want to just highlight is registration could have been better placed. It was tucked away and hard to see. Then the groupings I.e A-m and N-Z were right next to each other. Event staff were brilliant at making sure we knew there were two groupings however when I was queuing the majority of us were A-M so for this reason and this observation I made my suggestion is Maybe make smaller groups to ease queuing. As a-m had a long wait. I think it’s really important to point out though those who were handing out numbers and involved in this were trying to ease this as much as possible the lady who had n-z tried to help but then this just made it a little messy.

Honestly had THE best weekend! The organisation of the event was amazing, the atmosphere was so friendly, encouraging and inclusive -It really didn’t matter how fast or slow you are, everyone was celebrated! I was part of a group from my club, most did the quest challenge but there was no judgement if you only wanted to do one of the events. I’ll be back for sure!
