Flat, friendly, not too crowded. Overall very well organised although long loo queue led to a delay at the start. Really enjoyed it though. Lovely scenic route.
I find it difficult to drink from cups from the water stations. I know bottles will be more expensive but I think will be very much appreciated by the runners.
Very wet course. Tough conditions and heavy underfoot. A slow start due to number of people starting in a small area.
Tough conditions but totally unavoidable at that time of year. Thought it was a brilliant event.
Dont wear your best trainers as youre going to get wet and muddy!
Very enjoyable, tough course with awful conditions. Further I have ran on trail. All my half marathon and Marathon were on the road.Great job by everyone because not easy for marshals staying in awful conditions for two - three hours
Trail shoes are a must! Chanced Road shoes, huge mistake when the weather took a turn and had to walk parts due to no traction and sinking into the thick mud.
I wish I'd known the course is 200m short (20.9km). Please sort this out?
Trail trainers recommended. Mile markers would have been a nice addition.
The advice on Facebook was any shoes (road or trail) were suitable... in my opinion because of the weather conditions that advise should have been ONLY trail shoes... the course was half track and half canal tow path, both very muddy at times with a good mixture of horse poop to dodge also and I saw a few people take a tumble because of inappropriate shoes. That said... this was my first trail half marathon and totally enjoyed it. I think the course was a little boring at times but the weather made for a distraction! I do love running in extreme conditions!
Its very early in the year and can be cold so dress appropriately Course also muddy so Trial shoes advisable but not essential
Conditions were not brill (sleet, snow , freezing cold !) and course is very flat and a bit monotonous but overall a good event. Very well organised , good flapjack at the end , lots of support !
The race meet up point if the railway is good however the owners had cordoned off a huge section so runners were crammed in like cattle meaning really you had to wait outside where it was freezing. Apart from that well organised.
It was a flat race, half on trail, half on the canal. It was extremely muddy and slidey but dont let that put you off - all adds to the fun! Well organised and with very friendly marshals. I would recommend.
