The 401 Festival of Running – Portishead routes

COURSE MAPS-

Routes are currently being discussed and signed off with North Somerset Council. We have had to change our 10km and Half Marathon course due to restrictions that are now in place regarding the Nature reserve section of our course. We will update these once they are available

COURSE TERRAIN-

All of our courses are either on pavements, hard cycle paths or coastal paths. Please be aware that the weather will affect some of these terrains so come prepared for a bit of mud. The courses are undulating in places, further information will be shared once we have confirmed each course with UKA and North Somerset Council.

MILE MARKERS-

We include mile markers on all of our courses

PACE RUNNERS-

We do not have this facility, however, feel free to pace each other.

WATER STATIONS-

Each route with the exception of our 500m and 1 Mile races will have either 1 or a number of water stations included throughout the course. We automatically provide you with a reusable cup that you can use during the race, simply fill these up at any of our water stations. There will be water available in the finishing funnel area as well. Stay hydrated and if you want to bring your own water bottle or hydration pack, please feel free.

A brilliant well organised event. The course was brutal, particularly the second half, however, I'm sure if the weather had been cooler and, also a morning start I would have thoroughly enjoyed it and given extra stars for the course. I will definitely do it again. Well done Team.

A great running festival. Friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Ben makes ever effort to make it an inclusive event where all runners become part of the family
  • Did the Festival 5K in 2019

Awesome event, incredibly hot but staff ensured plenty of water was available. Thoroughly enjoyed the day out. Disappointed not have been able to purchase the yellow finishers shirt either online or at the event.
  • Did the Festival Half Marathon in 2019

Friendly & well organised event extra water stations provided due to extremely hot weather. The course was gruelling the hardest half I have ever done. Personally wouldn’t do it again

Did the Festival 10K in 2019

I found the course to be challenging, hated running through the town, up and down curbs, crossing traffic junctions (although the marshals tended to be good). I didn’t like the idea of a turn around point, would much rather of had a loop circuit.

Would it of been too much to provide a manned baggage tent?

Would of preferred a lesser quality finishers medal and a 401 tee shirt instead.

Loved it. Such an awesome friendly atmosphere.
The best marshals ever, so encouraging and supportive

Great race, great atmosphere, great organisation, great competitors! I mean, I hated the hills (obviously!) but really fab event. Hopefully I’ll be back next year to do the whole thing!
