Route information
This undulating one lap route is perfect for new and experienced runners alike.
Starting and finishing in Welshpool High Street, you will loop through the town of Welshpool along closed roads and through the amazing grounds of Powis Castle. The course is undulating, where you can see to gain an elevation of up to 160m.

There are a number of parking options at the event.
If you are travelling from Newtown, Aberystwyth and South Wales park in the public car park Berriew Rd, Welshpool, SY21 7SS – Please note you won’t have access to this car park after 8:45 am.
If you are travelling from Chester, Wrexham, Oswestry, Shrewsbury please park in the public car park Welshpool SY21 7DD.
If you are travelling locally it is encouraged that you park on the outskirts of town and walk to Race HQ.
By Train
Welshpool is the closest station to the start location, situated half a mile away, which should take around 10 minutes to walk.
By Car
If you are driving from Birmingham, the event start is accessible through the motorways M6 and M54, and then finally by the A5 road.
The best postcode to enter into your SatNav will be SY21 7JQ.

Race Packs
Race packs will be posted out to entrants who have entered more than 4 weeks before the race. Those who live outside of the UK or who have entered later will be able to collect their race pack on the day at Race HQ.
Cut-off Time
The race cut-off time is 90 minutes. If you do not reach the finish line by this point, you may, for your own safety, be asked to withdraw from the race, as this is when the roads will be re-opened.
Athletes with a Disability
While this is not a dedicated wheelchair race, accompanied wheelchairs, visually impaired and learning disabled athletes are more than welcome. If an athlete needs a carer or guide to accompany them during the race, the carer is entitled to a free place in the race.

Bag Drop
Please leave your bags and belongings in your cars, car parks are just a few minutes walk from the start/finish.
Water Stations
There will be a drinks station around the halfway mark.
Toilet Facilities
Toilets will be open in the public park and extra toilets will also be placed in the walkway next to the start.
Fancy Dress
Fancy dress is welcomed and encouraged! It is asked that you are considerate to your fellow runners and do not wear a costume that might be obstructive or dangerous to others.

Spectators are welcome to attend and support their runners however
For the safety of the runners and volunteers, spectators must listen to the marshals and stay off the course until all runners have passed.
It is recommended that spectators cheer on their runners from the start and finish on the High Street, but the route has good pavement coverage so do feel free to cheer them on from all areas.
FAQs
Can I wear headphones at the Welshpool 10k?
Yes, as this is a closed roads event, headphones are allowed. It's important that you are still able to hear those around you so its recommended you leave one earphone out to be able to hear your surroundings.
Can I run with a buggy at the Welshpool 10k?
Unfortunately buggies and pushchairs are not permitted at the event.
Will there be toilets at the Welshpool 10k?
Yes, there will be toilets in the public car park as well as extra toilets in the walkway next to the startline.
Can I run with my dog at the Welshpool 10k?
Unfortunately dogs are not permitted at the Welshpool 10k.
