Event summary

tri for life presents The Woburn Abbey Triathlon, set in one of the most spectacular locations in Bedfordshire. One of the UK’s most loved triathlons, it has become famed for its iconic venue and unrivalled family experience. Highlights of the event include stunning views of The Abbey and deer park, great event village and the stunning cycle route through the picturesque roads surrounding Woburn. Now in its 9th year, tri for life has raised over £2m for its charity partners. In 2016, we raised money for Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital and Melanoma Focus. 2016 saw the event take a leap into becoming of the UK’s largest triathlons with the event expanding to two days of racing and the introduction of a new half iron distance.

Nice event with an 'interesting' course, the swim is quite technical as it involved lots of turns within short distances so lots of sighting required to stay on track. The bike route is undulating with no major climbs that I can remember, I was surprised at the amount on climb o my strava when looking back though. The run is basically half down hill and half uphill with a hill sprint finish which was good. Very well supported though and great atmosphere around the event village though, just a shame there was no T-shirt.… read more

Really enjoyable, open course with lovely scenery starting from and returning to the ground around woburn abbey.Swim course, good if a little weedy, bit of a scrum on swim start though.Bike course, enjoyable and picturesque, but quite hilly so very challenging and no real chance to settle into a rhythm. Some enjoyable technical downhill sections though.Run course, open and well laid out, really good support throughout (helped by the loops), well stocked and manned aid station!… read more

Route description

Triathletes start with a swim in the large lake in front of the Abbey itself, followed by a cycle route that takes in picturesque British country lanes. The final run course enjoys stunning views of the Abbey grounds and Deer Park with the finish line right in the heart of the Event Village for maximum support.
