my first half marathon and it could not have been better organised. everything was set up to make the pre race time relaxed and just let each runner get ready in their own way. the race itself was not too hard, a good mix of hills and flat running away from traffic, the supporters were brilliant and i could not have done it without their support all the way round. post race just as organised. lovely to have my official tie emailed to me along with the official photos. a really memorable day. … read more

First Half Marathon for 15 years, the pacing runner for 2:20 was awesome........ talking to us all the way and providing updates and timings at each mile, also had advice for tackling the inclines and shaking things out on the descents. Only criticism is that this feel more like a serious athletic rather than fun event. I finished in 2:18 (which I was pleased with) but things appeared to be winding down in terms of support and amenities. Next stop Reading Half :-)

Its my fifth time running the Wokingham half marathon but this is definitely been the best organised one so far (especially with regard to the excellent weather). The course is fast But is not flat. Its quite well supported for a small race. Its also generally considered a good place to get a PB although I would caution new runners to this one but the last 3 miles are broadly uphill and it can take a toll after a hard first 10 miles. Definitely recommended!

If you are expecting a pancake flat race forget it! If you can get your head around the final push, and leave enough in the tank for the last 3 uphill miles you'll do great! Great support from locals and heaps of volunteers throughout the course. The pacers with my group (2:30) were encouraging and did their best to bring us home. Few tips: Don't skip hills in training or hill repeats. Get to the site early so you grab a parking spot and can chill for a good 30-45mins. Queue for the loos early. Buy your T-shirt online. Throw gels down your neck at mile 8 or 9. Be prepared for weird unseasonable weather (it was hot!). There are plenty of water stations to warrant ditching your own water bottle.

I ran Wokingham numerous times and it is very no frills I suppose but does the job. Its a local one for me so it made sense. Shame that this year onwards it is run by a new organization. So far, they did not bother replying to me for a week:-/.... in this digital age:)

The event is well organized, but a really bad route. Over motorways and straight roads and then back the way you came. Dull.! It's supposed to be a Wokingham half, but goes no where near the town. It should be through the town from Cantley and down Rose street and left at the bottom . That way traffic can still flow through town. I have done it 3 times, but won't pay to do it again until the route is improved.

This is my 1/2 marathon PB course! The start of the last 3 years, this race is where I set my stall out and push it. And once again, this year I got another PB.A nice, traffic free course, with only the smallest of rolling hills (although the return over the motorway bridge feels like a mountain :) and not too many turns. Regular water stations, great marshalling and support make this a great race.See you next year for another PB?

A great race whatever your level. A good standard towards the front of the race with approx 100 people around 80 mins or quicker so a good one for your club enthusiast gunning for a PB. Very quick course if conditions are good. A big field means this is also a good one for first timers and everyone in between. Support club hosted events! this is grass roots running get involved.

Done it several times. Its well organised and a more serious event than some of the more community based runs like Reading. The only improvement I would like to see would be improved drinks stations. Specifically, the plastic cups are difficult to drink from, on the run, and are potentially a source of infection. A minor point and I realise the environmental challenges of providing sealed water but worth considering. However, itsa great event and Im already looking forward to my next one.
