The San Diego Half Marathon has been designed to carry runners over a spectacular 13.1-mile USATF-certified course, while showcasing one of the world’s most beautiful cities! Our signature scenic route begins between Petco Park and the San Diego Convention Center on palm-tree lined Harbor Drive and continues with spectacular views of the USS Midway Museum, San Diego Bay, San Diego’s skyline, Harbor Island, Spanish Landing Park and Cancer Survivor Park. Then it makes its way through historic Liberty Station while passing NTC Park (formerly, the Naval Training Center) and the Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Next, it’s up Washington Street through the neighborhoods of Mission Hills and Hillcrest. The last few miles coast gradually downhill, passing beautiful Balboa Park and lead right back into downtown, with an epic finish inside Petco Park!

  • Did the Half Marathon in 2019

Start line and finish line atmosphere is great and where there is crowds, it's awesome. However, due to the sprawling nature of San Diego, there isn't a whole lot of on-the-course atmosphere. Obviously if you are running headphones in or with people it is hardly noticeable, yet I appreciated the time away from people and noise as I personally use these runs to test myself mentally. That aside, I did this run back in 2013 - I believe - and I think it has come a long way in a positive direction and love it. Washington Street is always a killer and a good way to test yourself that far into the race. Water stations were on point, volunteers were awesome, and all-in-all I look forward to running this race more in future years.

Great race! The parcours is very nice, from harbour, shelter island, liberty station, hillcrest, Balboa Park to Petco. Just 1 steep long hill but great volunteers to cheer you on. Im certainly coming back next year!

It was an amazing experience. I ran my first half-marathon in my life and love it everything was so good. I want to run another race this year again and thinking I might have a full marathon too!? why not.
