Route information

The Great Bristol Run is an iconic race, with the exciting route taking in the very best the city has to offer.

Starting in the city centre, the 10k route takes runners past the vibrant waterfront before crossing on to Spike island, through Wapping Wharf and a loop around the beautiful Queen Square. Cross over into Redcliffe and round the historical Castle Park. Finally race towards the grandstand finish on Anchor Road.

The Half Marathon route takes also takes runners past the vibrant waterfront, before heading out along the beautiful Avon Gorge. You'll pass under the world famous Clifton Suspension Bridge and then rejoin the 10k route on Spike Island.

With on-course entertainment, buzzing crowds and music zones you're in for a treat!

Junior & Mini Great Bristol Run

The Junior & Mini Great Bristol Run will take place as a standalone Junior & Mini event on Saturday 10 May. There’s a Mini (ages 3-8) 1.5km dash and a Junior (9-15) 2.5km challenge, offering something for all ages, giving our younger runners the chance to take centre stage on Super Saturday before the Great Bristol Run the following day.

Children will get a t-shirt, plus a medal they can show off to their friends and edible treats when they cross the finish line! Not only that, there will also be spot prizes for the best fancy dress!

Public Transport

Due to the number of participants, it is advised that you use public transport.

Bristol Temple Meads Station and Clifton Down Station are both approximately 1.5 miles walk from the race start.

*All timings are subject to change, and confirmed start times will be released closer to the event date and communicated to all entrants by Great Run.

Start Times

Your start time and wave allocation will be based on your estimated finish time when you enter. You can determine what wave you are in by looking at your race number, which you will receive in your race pack.

Age Requirements

Great Bristol Run entries are open to runners aged 15 & over for the 10k and, and 17 & over for the Half Marathon.

The Family Run is open to all over 3 years old.

Race Packs

Race numbers will be included in your race pack which will be sent to entrants approximately 2 weeks before the event. This will include your timing chip, wave colour, arrival time, and approximate start time.

Once you have received your race pack, you must read all the information as this is important preparation and will make sure you enjoy your day.

Bag Drop

A self-service bag drop will be available for all runners on event day. All runners need to fill out their bag label (which is detached from their race number) and attach it to their bag before dropping it off. There will be security staff present but the organisers cannot accept any responsibility for lost/stolen items.

Live Photos

Your official race photos from the run will go LIVE the moment you pass a MarathonPhotos.Live photographer at points around the course.

Share your race number with family and friends and they can register to be notified as soon as your photos are online, as well as track your progress around the course.
