About
All abilities are welcome in the award winning, sell-out MBNA Chester 10K. It's Chester's only city-based 10K, it's the best City Centre 10K in the North West and is the first event of the Chester Triple Series (enter and finish our 10K & Marathon or Metric Marathon in the same year for extra special, extra large and extra gold medal). Join us for what will be an amazing day of running and fundraising for charity.
The MBNA Chester 10K is a great introductory race for new runners and an ideal stepping stone for runners aiming for a half marathon in the future.

Route information
This sell-out 10k returns to the historic city of Chester for another year, boasting hundreds of participants and a lively atmosphere. The 2024 event will also be an England Athletics Age Group Masters 10k qualifier race, and is part of the Chester Triple Series.
The event boasts a vibrant city centre start and finish, with a route that passes many of Chester's iconic landmarks. Runners will head north-west out of the City along wide roads allowing runners to rapidly settle into race pace, through the picturesque village of Mollington before returning to the heart of Chester for a spectacular finish on Eastgate Street with all the enthusiasm you could ask for from the Cestrian supporters, under a backdrop of the Eastgate Clock.

There is ample parking in Chester city centre car parks, and other local car parks, within easy walking distance of the start. These car parks will charge a variety of fees dependent on the length of time vehicles are parked. Chester Racecourse car park will not be open for runners to use.

Start Waves
The Chester 10k will utilise two Start Waves - Blue 09:00 and Orange 09:30. Your start time will be clearly indicated on your race number.
Race Packs
If you live in the UK, and entered more than 4 weeks before the race, your race pack will be posted out to you two weeks before the race.
For those living outside the UK and those entering later, race packs will be available for collection on the day before or on the morning of the race. Please see the race information for full details.
Cut-Off Time
The race cut off time is 90 minutes after your race start. Roads will re-open in line with this pace. If you fall behind this pace, for your own safety you may be asked to withdraw from the race and get into the sweep bus.
Times for runners who finish over the cut off will not be listed on the final results.
Age Requirements
All entrants must be 15 and older on race day to enter the event.
Fancy Dress
Fancy dress is encouraged at the Chester 10k. Dress up in your best costume and enjoy your run.
Please be aware of your surroundings when running and please do not hinder other competitors.
Event Facilities
Toilets and bag drop will be based within Chester Racecourse, close to the race start.
Green Runner Entry
There is the option to enter as a Green Runner. In order to reduce carbon footprint, Green Runners will not receive a t-shirt, medal or goody bag. Instead the cost of these items will be donated to our official race charity Hope House Children's Hospices.

Why stop at one race when you can run 3? There are two options for the Chester Triple Medal Series:
- Option 1: MBNA Chester 10k (10/03/2024); Essar Chester Half Marathon (19/05/2024); and MBNA Chester Marathon (06/10/2024)
- Option 2: MBNA Chester 10k (10/03/2024); Essar Chester Half Marathon (19/05/2024); and MBNA Chester Metric Marathon (08/10/2024)

Will there be pacers at the MBNA Chester 10k?
No, there will not be any pacers at this event.
Where can I find my results for the MBNA Chester 10k?
Draft results will be posted online soon after the race, and final results will be available no later than two weeks after the race.
Can I run with a buggy or a dog at the MBNA Chester 10k?
Unfortunately neither dogs nor buggies are allowed on the course.
Is there somewhere I can leave my bag while I race in the MBNA Chester 10k?
Yes! There will be baggage storage at Chester Racecourse - in the County Stand at the top of the covered seating area. Please collect your bags after the race by 11:30am.
