The PodPlus Kent Spring Marathon & Half Marathon is ideal for those who prefer an alternative to the big city, mass participation spring marathons. The marathon is a two-lap scenic multi-terrain course with half marathon runners covering a single lap. The race is suitable for both experienced and first-time marathon or half marathon runners.

Course Details

The Kent Spring Marathon & Half Marathon course is an undulating, multi-terrain course using the roads surrounding Ashford, Westwell and Charing with a section along the Pilgrims Way. The marathon runners will complete two laps and the half marathon will be one lap. The final 1.5K of the race is downhill so fast finishes are guaranteed.

The roads will be not closed for the event, but they are quiet lanes. However, please still be aware that there may be vehicles on the course.

Raceday Logistics

Let's Do This always recommend that you arrive at least 45 mins before your start time so that you have enough time to both register and prep for the race start.

First Aid:

St John Ambulance or an alternative medical provider will be in attendance on the day and the course will be marshalled to provide assistance. There will also be a sweep marshal following the race to ensure that nobody is left behind and that all runners are accounted for.

Results:

Your individual time and position will be recorded by your electronic chip. We will endeavour to display results as they come into the race centre. Presentations will start approximately 1 hour after the first finisher home.

Results will be uploaded to www.nice-work.org.uk as soon as possible after the race. All entrants that have supplied a valid and legible email address will receive a copy of the results as soon as possible after the race.

Facilities:

Baggage Drop
Toilets
Changing Facilities
Refreshments
On Site Parking
Volunteers

If you would like to volunteer to help at any of our events, there are a variety of roles available from marshalling to helping with event set-up. We offer our volunteers a free entry to a future race and, in some cases, expenses are available. If interested, please contact: [email protected]

FAQs

How do I attach my timing chip?

Your timing chip is incorporated into your race number and should not be removed. Please place the race number on the front of your vest/shirt and not on your leg or back.

How do I attach my race number?

Please attach your race number to the front of your running top or vest using safety pins or clips, securing it on all four corners. Please don’t attach your number to the back of your shirt as it is difficult for our timekeepers and marshals to identify you.

Double loop marathon course with some deviation so you don't get bored with exact repetition. Well organized event with friendly and helpful marshals and well stocked aid stations. Hilly course through quiet lanes and a small amount of trail running.
  • Did the Half Marathon in 2018

This is a well organised event and deserves to have a larger entry. The route is really nice, well marshalled and signposted, and sufficient drinks stations. No complaints but I only gave 3-stars for atmosphere as it was a small field. I will definitely do this event again, the timing of the half marathon is perfect if you're doing the London Marathon.

Well organised, information came swiftly. Course a great mix of road and woodland. Atmosphere superb. Would have liked to view an Ordnance Survey map showing the route (the basic map was quite confusing, especially as the route involves a loop); the organisers weren’t able to provide one but they did describe the course for me in detail so I could plot it on my OS mapping. That was very kind! This was my first half marathon and I really really enjoyed it (and surprised myself with my time!) Also loved the floral finisher’s medal and the copious Jaffa Cakes and squash at the end.

It can't be a five star rating for atmosphere because it is a quiet marathon but there was a lovely positive feeling amongst the competitors supporters and marshalls. There is a good level of challenge with the hill just as you turn for the second half (and away from the half's finish) being a particular test of will but has chances to relax like the long shallow downhill afterwards. Some.beuatiful views somewhat ruined by the misty day but apart from not arranging that right the organisation was smooth. Will run again

Beautiful countryside, even in the bad weather, plenty of supporters about, and jelly babies. Finish line was a little confusing, but lovely race overall

What time does the run actually kick off is it 9am or is that just the meeting time? Also can we listen our music on the run? I feel this is motivation for me to keep me running.
    Steph E
The race itself starts at 9am so you will want to make sure that you get there with plenty of time to warm up and get yourself sorted! I would recommend getting there at 8am so you have enough time :) I'm afraid you cannot run with headphones due to safety reasons. I completely agree with you that music really helps so it is a shame that they don't let you!
