Event summary

Nestled in the heart of England, this route through the Chilterns delivers on all levels. You'll find yourself winding through ancient woodlands, steeped in history, with your efforts being rewarded by incredible views over the Chiltern Hills. Come for the buzzing atmosphere and finisher's medal.

Your organiser

Maverick Race is undoubtedly one of the best trail running organisers in the UK. The company was started down on the Jurassic Coast back in 2013 by Ben and Justin. Since then they’ve delivered events which are guaranteed to take you to some of the most scenic locations in the UK. However, what really separates Maverick is their strive for inclusivity in the outdoors. From 6km entry level runs to 50km ultra marathons, there really is something for everyone. Afterwards you’ll find everyone hanging around, enjoying some fresh pizza, and speaking to like minded people with a shared passion for trail running.

The race was great with stunning views. However, I found the course markings were not visible. I missed the turnings twice and ended up running an extra 2 miles which really interfered with my time. Maybe next time the signs could be bigger and perhaps more Marshalls. It would also been nice to have more fuel points especially at the beginning, I thought 12 K was too long of a wait. … read more

Route description
Route description

These beautiful routes take runners through the Chilterns and over an undulating course. Runners will find themselves travelling through ancient woodlands, steeped in history, with your efforts being rewarded by incredible views over the surrounding Chiltern Hills Area of Natural Beauty.

The routes take runners along Icknield Way, one of the oldest roads in Britain, as well as other famous routes. There’s also an awesome section along the Grand Union Canal which weaves its way back into Wendover before you make the climb up Pulpit Hill and White Leaf Cross.
