Really enjoyed it. Great crowds and atmosphere. Lovely course showcasing Northampton. My only questions would be about a staggered start. Definitely too many at the start, and fairly chaotic narrow parts for the first 2-3 miles (several fallers due to this) until the crowds started to thin out. Apart from that, excellent.

Overall I’d definitely recommend, well organised for a local event, if you are aiming for a time the course has a narrow section for a good distance which can hinder that unless you get near the front at the start

This was my first ever Half Marathon. I Started Parkrun 6 months ago at Uni and caught the buzz. When I moved back home and saw the Half marathon advertised, my friend I set ourselves a goal to complete it.We got to the hotel for check in about an hour before the race and the atmosphere was really great, the build and organisation before the start was top notch!I have to say the marshals were incredible and there were loads! Pretty much every corner had a marshal or two and all were fantastic. Big thanks to all of them.It was nice being local and seeing some familiar faces running too. When we started I felt that my pace was good, I was aiming for anything under 2hrs. I was finding it pretty nice and smooth for the first 3 miles. Starting by going down guildhall, up to the canal and turning right towards Sixfields. We were quite clumped for the first 2 miles and then began to slowly spread out. Note the is a nice wobbly bridge in this section which seemed to wake us all up a bit. I had never approached Sixfields from this path before, so it was lovely to explore this new found (for me) part of the town.I decided to leap up the infamous Cobblers stairs instead of taking them slowly, may not have been the best plan but I got away with it haha. This is also where the 1st drink stop is.We then got to the top of the Cobblers hill going towards the Saints, that's where I first started feeling the struggle a bit, but slowed down a touch to get a breathing back in check and all was fine. The Saints was also the first stop for the relay teams so we got a lot of cheering and support from them as we exited the car park. What was great is that now and then people talk to you throughout the race, check on you and help you through. Going up St James was a tough part, purely because of how long of a straight it was and there were a few steep up hill parts, but we were all along helped by the incredible marshals and general public. Getting towards the barrack road was the 2nd drinks stop, the guys there were fantastic. The crowds at the end of St James were pretty loud too.Through the racecourse was probably the best support we got until the last straight of the race, lots of people turned out to cheer us on and right up to Abington Park there was a nice constant support from the public also. The racecourse marked the halfway point of the race. After the park, the race got a lot more spread out and also became slightly easier as we entered the 9 mile mark and third water station. The hill down Rushmere road was delightful and it was a gorgeous run over the A45 and up to the Northampton Active Whitewater Centre. This was where the 10 mile mark hit which meant there was around 5K to go, so I started to dig my heels in and make up some places. Going round the stake park and University campus. The last section after running over and alongside the canal was a straight flat run towards a very demanding hill up to Guildhall, which was followed by an even bigger hill just after the Derngate. However, this was literally just before the final corner so the adrenaline managed to get me through. From taking the last corner right up until the finish line, we had a constant barrage of support and it really made the sprint finish all the more worth while. It was also great to turn the corner and be amazed to see 1:48:19 on the timing screen as I finished! I couldn't believe it.At the end there was marshals giving out water, sweets, fruit, etc. They were brilliant.A really nice touch was the choirs, bands and music groups that were entertaining us as we ran past at very different stages and families offering out sweets as we went past. The day was amazing and so well put together, couldn't fault the event at all. Really looking forward to doing it next year!

Luckily the weather was brilliant, (not to do with you of course! ) .The organisation was exceptional, atmosphere tremendous. The two pacers for 2:45 were absolutely fantastic, all you could wish for. Positive and encouraging. This was my first half marathon ever, just turned 72. My aim to be inside the 3 hour cut off point. Decided to start at 2:45 pace and due to these two wonderful people I did 2:43:40 .Thank you so much. Would recommend this event to everyone who wants to complete a half marathon. Well done to everyone including the volunteers marshaling.

Just need to clamp down on people with headphones. at the back of the circuit, there is a section on country roads and a guy was just running down the middle of the road and couldn't even hear us shouting him when a vehicle was right behind him.

Loved that the 6.6 was part road and part trail. Lovely distance too. Liked that the registration is in a pub so there is time for a coffee and loo before heading round the corner to run. Finish at Delapre Abbey where your car is parked and the bag store will be. Will definitely be running the half next year
