My first half Marathon which I entered early having never even done a 5k park run. Well organised water stations and sponge stations, cheerful Marshalls and welcome support from kids etc with water hoses in the heat .Don't even attempt to run course without your own water bottle like some crazy people ! and I liked course but gave it a 4 as I saw a few people taking advantage cheating only themselves ! cutting the distance doing u turns while running the sea front loops. My GP told me to consider giving it a miss due to a long term left foot problem but nothing worth doing is ever easy and ones run time really really don't matter as we all get the same medal and self pride at the finish line. So just do it you wont regret it !. Martin.

I haven't been to Southend for 18 plus years. And this was great not boring like some people say.. love every minute. It's a seafront not a valley. Well done great job.. I got to you early didn't have any troubles getting in. I would do it again. In a heart beat

Great setting on arrival and well organised but as with other reviews I found the course really really boring and very difficult to get a fast time - I have run two half’s this year - both 4 minutes faster than todays race. For 10 miles you just run in a straight line along the sea front - very easy to get stuck one paced and not easy to motivate yourself. They could do with heading up the Kursaal road and along before heading back down maybe - just needs to change a little on the eye in the middle of the race.

Unfortunately didn't have the best experience for race today. Had major delays being able to get into parking for event which caused unnecessary stress before start. I also wasn't sent my race number despite entering weeks in advance so had inconvenience of having to collect on the day to discover that my name wasn't even on list!? I did make the results but been placed in wrong age group (a younger one which will take as a compliment 😉)Did find the route a bit boring & would have been nice to have had more music or something along the way to help create more of an atmosphere.Marshals all did a great job and plenty of water stations on a hot day.

Overall a very well run event. Only suggestion would be water stations need to be a little further apart. 2nd year running and feels there are lot until you pass mile 10(ish) than you dont see another till mile 12 which is tough in the heat. Also bottles rather than cups would be amazing.

This was my first half marathon and I found it to be incredibly well managed and very well run by the organisers.

Hi there, just to let you know the race organiser has strongly advised runners not to wear headphones so that you can hear marshal instructions clearly - it's suggested that if you choose to wear headhpones please use either bone conduction models or wear them in one ear only. Best of luck!

Hello there, just to let you know that there isn't any specific cut off time for this event. Generally the cut off time for most half-marathons is around 3-4 hours, I hope this helps. All the best!
