Route information
A major fundraising event for Havens Hospice, this year is even more important. Entries will help support this wonderful charity in their work to provide palliative nursing and supportive care to adults, young people, and children living with complex or incurable conditions across Essex.
This event is definitely one to add to your racing calendar, with a single lap course on road and tarmac paths.
This almost completely flat route starts and finishes in Central Park, making the whole course a scenic rural route, undulating through nearby countryside and quaint villages in North Essex.
The race has a stunning finish line, down an avenue of autumn trees in Central Park. The race draws a large crowd, with many supporters and friendly marshals on the route to cheer you on, so sign up early to make sure you don't miss out!

Shire Hall, the start location, is a short walk from Chelmsford Railway Station, and Race HQ is less than half a mile from Chelmsford Railway Station.

It is recommended you arrive at least 45 minutes before the start time to ensure plenty of time to complete the registration process and warm up.
Age Requirements
Entrants must be 17 and older to enter the Half Marathon and 18 and older to enter the Marathon.
Race Packs
Entrants who have entered in good time will have their race packs sent in the post 10 days before event day.
Those who have entered in the 10 days before race day will collect their race pack at registration on the day of the event.
If your race pack hasn’t arrived, head to the registration desk at race HQ and you can be issued with a new one.
A full set of race instructions will be sent via email before the event.

Spectators are welcome! With family-friendly entertainment and great viewing of the finish line, this event is perfect for spectators.

Please note that there are no parking facilities and no drop off point at Central Park and you must use one of the City Centre car parks.

All runners will receive a bespoke medal on completion of the race.

Race times will be posted to www.nice-work.org.uk after the race, as well as being emailed to participants with a valid email address.

Yes, there is a cut-off time of 8 hours. Please ensure you can complete your race distance within this time frame.
Is there a minimum age requirement to enter The Chelmsford Marathon & Half Marathon?
Runners must be 17 years and over on race day to enter the Half Marathon, and 18 years and over on race day to enter the Marathon.
