Route description
Route description

This is a challenging but hugely enjoyable off-road 10k using some of the MTB course, footpaths and trails set within the grounds of Hadleigh Castle and which proved such a tough test for the Olympians in the summer of 2012.

The course will be two laps of 5km and runners can expect tough inclines and declines on grass fields and footpaths. There are also a couple of short sections with rocks and boulders, as used in the Olympic MTB races, to provide an extra challenge.

A 10km not for the faint hearted. This one has everything and will really push you to your limits. What goes up must come down as they say. Plenty of hills of all gradients, grass, gravel, mud, rocks and even a little tunnel - this course has it all. Very well organised both on course and at the start/finish area. Cafe has fantastic post run hot chocolate

Hadleigh 10k is definitely a challenge due to its undulating looped course with some real tough steep slopes and slippery muddy areas but the atmosphere is great fun. Lots of encouraging marshals, supporters and fellow runners with the most beautiful views to focus on as you determinedly soldier through this tough 10k. A feeling of euphoria when you reach the end makes it all worthwhile!

Extremely well organised and friendly event, Nice Work are one of the few chip timing organisations the have 5 yearly age graded groups and as a 66 year old participant I don’t have to compete against 40 year olds. The Legacy is an iconic event and hope Nice Work can continue to support this race. Already entered on day 1 for next year. Thank you Nice Work

The atmosphere was truly amazing with the support from all the marshals and the families and supporters that turned up. This was my first Hadleigh Legacy and for me it will be an annual event. My thanks to Nice Work for a well organised and memorable event, and of course To Castle Point Joggers for hosting the event

This event was the best I've been to for a 10k. The marshalls were all cheery and bubbly even though it was a bitter cold wind. There were marshalls everywhere and there was no doubt about which way the course went. There were ample ladies toilets and the paper never ran out. Inside the registration building everything was very well organised, and the registrars were so very helpful. Wonderful venue and the safety warnings were all given on numerous occasions, so you were in no doubt as to what you were letting yourself in for. Well done everyone, you are awesome!

This is the fourth year i've run the legacy race, and i still love it. Getting a PB here means so much: its a relentlessly demanding course, but satisfaction finishing is incredible.I also ride the mountain bike course, and run there every week for Park Run, but i never tire of looking out across the course, or charging down a descent. Its incredibly well run, marshals are fab, and i cant imagine ever not wanting to run it!The Medal looks epic too, which helps (though im not sure why it gets bigger every year?)

But it is on the 2012 London Olympic BMX course so you are part of history. Not your everyday 10km event! Next week's 10km run will be a breeze after this....
