Christmas Palo Alto Double 15k, 10k, 5k & Bob Anderson's Kids Mile

The concept of Double Running was founded in 2010 by Bob Anderson, who had the idea of running two races in one day with a short rest in between, and to add the times together to determine the winner. Thus, the Double Run was born, and you can experience it at this Christmas Palo Alto Double 15k, 10k, 5k & Bob Anderson's Kids Mile.

The Double 15k race will be a 10k followed by a 5k, with a break in the middle called the Recovery Zone. The 10k first stage will be run at 9am, and the 5k second stage will start at 10:45, meaning that the faster you run the first leg, the longer break you will have in the middle.

As well as the Double 15k challenge, there will be three other races at this event. The Palo Alto 10k will run the same route as the first leg of the 15k, also at 9am. There will also be a 5k event at 9am, running the same route as the 15k second leg. If you want to bring your kids along, there will be a kids mile event at 10:20, for kids age of 13 and under.

All courses start by the Baylands Athletic Center. The 10k heads north on the San Francisquito Creek Trail, crosses the creek onto the Bay Trail and continues north. The trail continues along the coast, and then crossed to University Ave.

The 5k heads west along San Francisquito Creek Trail, where it crosses the creek on the E Bayshore Rd, and then heads north along Bay Trail, before turning around at the top of Martin Luther King Park. The Kids 1 Mile, heading north along San Francisquito Creek Trail, turning around at the intersection with Bay Trail.
